My September Favourites – {Kids, Fashion and Home} and WIN £100 to spend at Zara

It’s the end of the month, and I’m not going to lie, I’ve done a fair bit of shopping this month! Mainly stuff for the house and Arlo (as my excuse is babies always need bigger clothes), and also my thoughts have turned towards Christmas as from September onwards I like to start to buy presents and stocking fillers in order to spread the cost.

Here are some of my best buys/giftings in September:

Orla Kiely Grobag

Our family worked with the Gro Company this past month, and one of the things they sent us which I LOVED and that goes perfectly in Arlo’s scandi-themed nursery is this Orla Kiely Sausage Dog print, 2.5 tog Grobag, perfect as the nights get chillier as we head into autumn. We used Grobags for Freddie and Sasha as babies, and wanted to use them again for Arlo. This one is very swish!

Playmobil advent calendar

Like I said, my thoughts are turning towards prepping and buying for Christmas (you can see my recent post on how I start planning for Christmas), and therefore I begin picking up festive bits and bobs that I don’t want to be panic-buying come December. For the past few years the children have had a Playmobil advent calendar that my mum bought them, and they love the coming together of the Christmassy scene as December progresses. However, I’m storing their old one away for Arlo, and have bought a new one for them to share as they know the old scene hands down now. I’ll probably be more excited than them to get this out on the 1st of the month!

Zara baby boy clothes

Whilst I struggle to get 6 year old Freddie nice, reasonably priced boys clothes these days, there are LOADS of gorgeous baby boy clothes about. I hit up Zara a little while ago and came away with some really cool-yet-still-sweet tops, jumpers and trousers for Arlo.

GLTC picture

I worked with the Great Little Trading Co as part of their testing team this month, and I’m still loving the things that they sent me, in particular this print that I think will make a great gift for some friends who are expecting babies over the next few months.

Sainsbury’s Candle

Seriously impressed with this 3 wick fig leaf and elderberry candle from Sainsbury’s, as it’s a supermarket one that actually smells when lit! The scent is perfect from going from summer to autumn, and helps make the living room look all cosy now the nights are drawing in. At £6 (ish) you can afford to embrace your inner hygge!

Succulents and terranium

I did what I always do when I head to Lidl for ‘just a few bits’- come out with the most random of things! On this occasion it was this giant rope-handled terranium for only £7, and it now has pride of place on the kitchen window sil, along with a whole load of succulents that I got from Ikea for only a few quid each. Green is good!

Have you bought anything great this month? Let me know in the comments box below- I’m always on the hunt for a new gem of a buy!

  1. Very hard to resist the women’s clothes so probably a 50/50 split on me and the boys – love your selection for Arlo! Was debating a Playmobile advent calendar too as they’ve been too young for it in previous years. I’ve just found one that’s 18 months plus so suitable for both – hopefully they’ll love it!

  2. I need some jumpers for my little man for the winter and I am desperate for a coat, but I might also get the odd Christmas present with it. either way, great prize, thanks for the chance.

  3. I am determined to get more organised for Christmas this year. Love your suggestion about keeping the advent calendar and reusing for a few years. Great idea! I LOVE Zara for toddler boy clothes, so would definitely spend the £100 on a new AW wardrobe for my son 🙂

  4. I really would love a chunky knit cardigan or jumper and I need a new jersey skirt because I ripped mine running after the dog!!

  5. I used to live in Madrid so Zara and Mango are my favourite shops. i especially love Zara’s coats and jackets so I would buy one of those, and some t-shirts from their TRF range.x

  6. Some new clothes for autumn for me as I’ve lost weight recently so I don’t have many clothes that fit! Their boys clothes are fab too 🙂

  7. Definitely would be spending it in the kids section. They had some gorgeous sequin tops in that the kids loved so a few of these would definitely be bought.

  8. Oooh I used to love Zara clothing for me, I haven’t visited for a while so I’d be really interested in checking out the kids section and treating my son please 🙂

  9. I saw the other day that Zara are doing kids clothes and they looked lovely (not as trashy as River Islands!). I would treat our little girl Beatrice to some lovely winter clothes and hope there was enough left to buy myself a little something.

  10. Oh I don’t know, something new for me would be lovely and a real treat, i would have to avoid the kids section or else i’d spend it in there which is what normally happens if i go shopping

  11. I’d split it and treat both kids and I to a little something – nice autumn/winter shirt for me I think.

  12. I’ve had my eye on this little pink suede effect coat! Would be perfect for autumn, it’s a bargain too!
With the rest I’d buy my 10 year old son & 1 year old daughter done winter bits! 😉

  13. I’m not a bag girl at all but I’ve seen a gorgeous black bag in this year’s A/W at Zara; it’s fabulous and I’d love to make it mine.

  14. I’d buy my daughter a lovely dress and my son a shirt for my friends wedding. They have some gorgeous stuff!
My fab find this month is a pair of dr martens for my daughter in the sale in tkmax for £15!

  15. Zara clothes are lovely. My son had his 13th birthday yesterday and growing at a rate of knots so I suppose I could get him a few clothes, poor love. However my daughter is in love with the check tartan dresses, although I have fallen in love with the bird and floral dress, so cute !

  28. I’d buy myself a beautiful new jacket for wearing on evenings out, I love to get dressed up but always end up cold because I only have my school run coat, which does not go well with a dress and heels! So instead I usually bear the cold and shiver!

  29. I would buy my daughter the frilly dress on their website and the leather ballerina shoes, and perhaps a nice jumper for me.

  30. I’ve been trying to be good this month as Xmas is fast approaching so no exciting buys.

I made up for it last month in Ikea for new house stuff though!

  31. I would put it towards some winter coats for my two youngest daughters and boots. Their are some gorgeous styles of both at Zara. I love the quirks in the clothing that make them different from the normal high street ranges.
