Was Your Last Move A Disaster? This One Doesn’t Have To Be

Posted on June 12, 2025 By Becky

Was your last move a disaster? If it was, then it might have put you off moving again, even if you have wanted to. The issue with this is that you can’t stay in a place that isn’t suitable for you simply because you had a bad moving experience in the past. It doesn’t have to be the nightmare it was before as long as you are preparing yourself for it.

In this article, we’re going to be taking a quick look into some of the things that you can do here to stop it spiralling into a nightmare. At the end of the day, it comes down to being organized, so let’s look at that.

Plan In Advance

We’re going to start this article off by suggesting that you plan your move as far in advance as possible so that you have the maximum amount of time to get everything sorted. The more time you have, the less stress there is going to be on the process, and taking the stress out is what will stop it from descending into a nightmare.

You need to make a list of all of the things that need to be done, you need to then make a start on your list as best you can, double check moving dates, and so on. If you keep yourself organized with this list, you can tick items off as you go along, helping you to understand what you still have to do, and what has been done.

Declutter Before You Pack

Before you even think about packing anything into boxes, you need to go through all of your items and declutter. Anything that you no longer want can be thrown out or sold, and that way you’re not going to end up with a bunch of stuff that you don’t want or need, cluttering up your new space.

It’s going to take a lot of work to get this done, but once it is complete you will feel so much better.

Hire The Services You Need

The final thing that we want to talk about is hiring the services that you need. It’s down to you to determine whether you just want to hire a van and move all of the items yourself or with the help of those closest to you. Or, you need to decide if the right choice is going to be hiring professional movers to make your life easier. It depends on your budget and how much you are able to do yourself to be honest, but it’s something to contemplate.

We hope that you have found this article helpful, and now see some of the things that you can do to avoid your next move being a disaster like your last one. We understand that sometimes things can get out of your hand, but if you want to keep a tight hold on them, you’ve got to do whatever it takes. We wish you the very best of luck, and hope that you manage to have a smooth move next time this occurs!
