Why You Should Organize A Charity Event Posted on March 23, 2023April 22, 2024 By Becky Is helping out a charity or performing community service on your bucket list? Are you wondering how to organize a charity event? Keen to get involved with national volunteer week? We often have this nugget of an idea tucked in our head for “someday,” but for many of us, that day never comes. There’s always something more pressing to do, or we claim we don’t know how to get started. Make this the year you help out. Your unique talents, knowledge and experience could be just what someone needs. Even better, you don’t need to wait for an opportunity to crop up — you can recruit help and organize your own charity event. This could be something simple, such as a raffle, where you can sell online raffle tickets in order to streamline the process and increase overall sales. Are there local shelters in need of assistance? Do you want to support a good international charity? Find a cause you’re passionate about and get going. The rewards are totally worth it. 1. You’ll Feel Better You know the warm fuzzy feeling you get when you do something kind for another person? It turns out it’s not just a figment of your imagination. The happiness overload you feel is a chemical response in your brain, releasing feel-good hormones throughout your body. This concoction consists of three powerhouse ingredients — serotonin, dopamine and oxytocin. Getting enough of these delightful brain chemicals can prevent anxiety and depression symptoms. You’ll feel better and rest easier with these on your side. 2. You’ll Support a Cause You Care About You’re probably here because you’ve been debating organizing a charity event, which means you also likely have a cause near and dear to your heart. Sitting on the sidelines waiting for someone else to rally could leave you waiting for a long time. Meanwhile, the charity you feel passionate about goes without your precious aid. Reach out now. Be the voice for your cause and help raise awareness — they’ll be lucky to have you. 3. You’ll Build Community Nothing brings a community together better than a shared cause or when you organize a charity event. Spread the word about your charity event and get the locals involved. Call in all your favors to get people there. Bringing people together is even easier if you demonstrate the good the event will do. Show them how the area will improve by donating their time or money. You could even give our branded items for free in order to spread awareness of your brand and the charities involved, using stationery is a popular choice. Another commonly used and effective option is to order branded wristbands from a site such as SleekWristbands.com. Not only do they increase visibility of your brand in relation to charity work, they’re also comfortable and can be something for people to wear that carries a positive association with your brand – potentially increasing your customer base down the line. Events like raising money to keep creative programs open, gathering donations for kids in need and working to restore a beloved town landmark are all causes your town or city is more likely to band together over. Charities like saving the whales are still worthwhile, but you’ll have to work harder to garnish the necessary support. 4. You’ll Meet New People You never know who may become a new great friend. Putting yourself out there can feel daunting. What makes you qualified to run a charity event? What if people don’t respond well? Will the entire thing be an embarrassing failure? This negative thinking pattern keeps you from making a difference and meeting new people along the way. You have to bring down your walls and try something new. 5. You’ll Set a Good Example for Your Kids Kids watch everything you do and will absorb some of those values and traits as their own. Putting in the work of organizing a charity event shows them where your priorities lie. You’re willing to sacrifice your own time and money to help someone or something else. You desire to be a part of something bigger than yourself. This positive, giving attitude will hopefully rub off on your kids, but at the very least, you’ll demonstrate the good that can happen from sacrificing just a little. See if you can get your family involved in some aspect. Even the youngest kids could have a small part to play. 6. You’ll View Yourself More Positively Volunteering your time and money to organize a charity event is an excellent opportunity to align with your goals and values. So many of us wish we were the kind of people to go out of our way to help others, but we lack the motivation to get up and do something about it. When put off continually, a little nagging voice sticks in your head. You’ll feel much better when you listen to the voice and just get started. Instead of waiting on the sidelines, you’re in the thick of it, making a difference for a cause you believe in. 7. You’ll Feel More Grateful Living in your little bubble may feel comfortable, but you won’t have as many opportunities to feel genuinely grateful for what you have. In fact, if you’re like most adults, you’ve fallen into the social media trap at least once — feeling dissatisfied with your life compared to what you see on the screen. Organizing a charity event will give you a whole new perspective on the world and your part in it. You’ll walk away knowing you have plenty to be grateful for. Giving Your Time Helps in Many Ways Everyone benefits when you take time out of your busy schedule to organize a charity event. You can improve your mental and physical health and self-confidence, building new skills along the way. You also get to set a good example for your kids and influence others in your circle. Best of all, a cause you care about gets the help they desperately need. Giving your time is a win-win all around. Liked discovering how to organize a charity event?
