10 Christmas Day Nibbles Ideas Posted on July 8, 2025April 14, 2026 By Becky Let’s be honest, Christmas dinner gets all the glory, but you know what really keeps the festive spirit alive while the turkey’s basting and the champagne’s popping? Yep, it’s the nibbles. Whether you call them party snacks, picky bits, finger food, or canapé heaven, Christmas Day nibbles are the true unsung heroes of the festive feast, and also ideal for Boxing Day hosting. In our house, the nibbles tray starts coming out around 11am, along with the Bucks Fizz, and doesn’t disappear until someone shuffles off to bed, cradling the last mince pie like a prize. Here are 10 delicious, easy Christmas nibbles ideas that are perfect for grazing, mingling, and keeping hunger at bay until the big meal. Bonus: they also double as fab finger food for a Xmas party, so whether you’re hosting the in-laws or your mates from uni, you’re covered. 1. Mini Pigs in Blankets with Honey Mustard Dip An absolute classic. No Christmas is complete without these. End of story. Ingredients (UK/US): 12 chipolata sausages / cocktail sausages (or 24 if you’re feeding a crowd) 12 rashers streaky bacon / thin-cut bacon 2 tbsp honey / 2 tbsp honey 1 tbsp Dijon mustard / 1 tbsp Dijon mustard Method: Cut each bacon rasher in half and wrap around a sausage. Pop onto a baking tray, seam side down. Bake at 200°C / 400°F for 20–25 minutes until crispy. Mix honey and mustard for a sweet little dip. These are the first to vanish at any party. Serve with cocktail sticks and a Christmassy napkin, and watch them go! 2. Cranberry & Brie Bites Creamy, gooey brie and tangy cranberry sauce in one perfect mouthful? Yes please. Ingredients: 1 sheet ready-rolled puff pastry / 1 sheet puff pastry 100g brie / 3.5 oz brie 4 tbsp cranberry sauce / 4 tbsp cranberry sauce Fresh thyme (optional) Method: Cut pastry into small squares and press into a greased mini muffin tin. Add a cube of brie and a teaspoon of cranberry sauce. Sprinkle with thyme, if using. Bake at 200°C / 400°F for 15 minutes. They look so fancy but take less than 20 minutes. Perfect easy Christmas nibbles! 3. Stuffing Balls with a Twist Let’s elevate your usual stuffing balls with a little festive flair. Ingredients: 1 pack stuffing mix / 1 box stuffing mix 75g cooked bacon bits / ½ cup 50g dried cranberries / ⅓ cup 1 egg (UK & US) Optional: crumbled blue cheese or chestnuts Method: Make up the stuffing mix as directed. Stir in bacon, cranberries, and extras. Roll into balls and bake at 180°C / 350°F for 20–25 mins. They’re savoury, sweet, salty and just a little bit bougie. Perfect for your Christmas Day nibbles spread. 4. Smoked Salmon Blinis A posh one, but surprisingly easy! Ingredients: 1 pack mini blinis or make your own with mini pancakes 100g smoked salmon / 3.5 oz 100g cream cheese / 3.5 oz Lemon juice and black pepper Method: Spread cream cheese on each blini. Top with a ribbon of smoked salmon. Finish with a squeeze of lemon and black pepper. These scream “I know how to host”, and they make brilliant finger food for a Xmas party. 5. Cheesy Christmas Stars Turn puff pastry and cheese into a tray of festive stars. Great for kids to help with too. Ingredients: 1 sheet puff pastry 100g grated cheddar / 3.5 oz shredded cheddar 1 egg, beaten (for brushing) Method: Cut pastry into star shapes using a cutter. Brush with egg and sprinkle with cheese. Bake at 200°C / 400°F for 10–12 mins. They’re light, crispy, and just cheesy enough. Serve with dips for a festive platter. 6. Mini Yorkshire Pud Canapés Total crowd-pleaser and you can customise with any topping. Ingredients: 12 frozen mini Yorkshire puddings Leftover roast beef or turkey Horseradish or cranberry sauce Method: Warm Yorkshires as per packet. Fill with meat and a dollop of sauce. A brilliant Christmas nibbles idea when you want to use up leftovers—or impress guests with very little effort! 7. Sticky Sausage Skewers Like pigs in blankets but upgraded. Ingredients: 12 cocktail sausages 2 tbsp honey 1 tbsp soy sauce 1 tsp wholegrain mustard Method: Mix honey, soy, and mustard. Toss sausages in glaze and bake for 25 mins at 200°C / 400°F. Skewer two on each cocktail stick. Serve warm or cold. Either way—gone in 60 seconds. 8. Christmas Caprese Skewers Festive, fresh, and perfect if you’ve overindulged on cheese and pigs. Ingredients: Cherry tomatoes Mini mozzarella balls Fresh basil leaves Balsamic glaze Method: Skewer a tomato, basil leaf and mozzarella. Drizzle with balsamic just before serving. A great veggie option and a beautiful addition to your party nibbles table. 9. Turkey & Stuffing Pinwheels Leftovers = sorted. Ingredients: 1 sheet puff pastry 100g cooked turkey / 3.5 oz 100g stuffing / 3.5 oz 1 beaten egg Method: Roll out pastry, top with turkey and stuffing. Roll into a log, slice into pinwheels. Bake at 200°C / 400°F for 15–20 mins. Serve warm or cold. These are ideal nibbles for Boxing Day too! 10. Chocolate-Dipped Pretzels (With Sprinkles!) Because even Christmas Day nibbles need a sweet treat. Ingredients: Mini salted pretzels 100g chocolate / 3.5 oz Sprinkles (go wild!) Method: Melt chocolate. Dip half of each pretzel, then sprinkle.
