Toddlebike Review

Posted on November 13, 2014May 2, 2025 By Becky

When I received an email the other week with an offer of a Toddlebike for Sasha to try, I jumped at the chance! We don’t review too many toys, since our place is crammed full already, but if a special one comes up, we are ready and raring! I knew that S would be keen on a Toddlebike, as she is a big fan, bigger than Freddie was, of ride-on toys, and every time we go to play groups she makes a bee-line for them.

Toddlebikes are ‘Pre-Balance’ bikes for 1-3 year olds, and are designed to use both indoors and outdoors. As soon as I took it out of the box, I was surprised at how lightweight it was, and yet even after some pretty rough play and use for the week or so we’ve had it, it has revealed itself to be super-sturdy, even withstanding Freddie’s attempts to have a go (he’s far too big really!). Easy to get on-and-off, and with super-light steering, S soon worked out the best way of using it, and as an older toddler, can easily zoom around using both feet to propel herself forward.

I’ve been trying to capture some really clear shots of her using it at full speed but she’s just too fast- good job we have a big hallway and kitchen to make full use of it! Outside it has also proved popular, and we can’t wait to use it more on these cold, autumnal days.

As an average-sized 2 1/2 year old (50th centile), there is still a lot of growing room and scope for use of the Toddlebike, and foresee Sasha being able to use this well into next year, if not longer.

I am really impressed with our Toddlebike, and already Sasha has got good use out of it. I am a real fan of balance-bike style toys, as I believe they’re really good for gross motor skills and will hopefully prepare S for the next stage, which is either a bigger balance bike or an actual peddle bike. I think Freddie would have really benefited from one, and I wish we’d known about them when he was younger!

All in all our lovely Toddlebike has been a big success- it is 100% staying, and I know a few other little ladies who might be the recipient of one for Christmas!

Even as a relatively new parent of only 5 years (I still count this as new people), Adam and I have often found ourselves straddling the rather fine line of being laid back parents and not pushy, allowing our children to develop at their own pace and at their own…

When it comes to reviews on this blog, toys don’t tend to be something we do very often, mainly because Adam and I don’t really agree with either of our children being given something big on a whim (we tend to spoil on Birthdays and Christmas instead), but on this…
