How to Plan a Romantic Getaway

Posted on July 24, 2025 By Becky

Planning a romantic getaway is one of the best ways to reconnect with a partner, create new memories, and step away from that daily grind. Whether it’s a city escape, a beach retreat, or a romantic nature break, the key is thoughtful planning that keeps both your interests in mind.

It doesn’t have to be something extravagant because what matters most is the time that you spend together and the intention behind the trip. Let’s take a look at some of the things that you need to think about to plan your getaway that sparks connection and leave you both feeling closer than ever.

  1. Choose the right destination. Every couple is different, so pick a place that suits your shared interests. If you both love the outdoors, then a cabin in the woods or a peaceful lakeside stay can be perfect. If you much prefer the bustle of the city, then fine dining and a boutique hotel is exactly what you need to book. Consider how far you’re willing to travel with this and think about what relaxes you both.
  2. Plan, but don’t overdo it. Part of the joy of a romantic trip is having the freedom to just enjoy each other’s company without a packed itinerary. That means loosely planning some activities like a couples massage or a sunset hike, but leave room to be spontaneous. You may not even want to leave the bedroom.
  3. Be thoughtful with your packing. When it comes to a romantic getaway, consider not just the essentials but the extras that add comfort or charm. Cosy clothing for lounging, a bottle of wine, a Bluetooth speaker for music or even a handwritten note can enhance the mood. If you’re going somewhere with outdoor access, pack for nature walks or parks. Being thoughtful in your items will go a long way in setting the tone.
  4. Disconnect to reconnect. Make the most of the time that you’ve got together by minimising your distractions.Put your phones on silent, avoid checking your emails, and stay off social media during your key moments. Even just a few hours of undivided attention can strengthen your connection and allow for deeper conversation. Don’t forget to bring a journal to capture shared reflections or moments from the trip along the way.
  5. Make a point of creating memories. It’s the smaller things that make a romantic getaway truly special. You can watch the sunrise together, cook a meal side by side, or evil at each other little notes. Plan a shared activity that’s a little outside the norm, like stargazing or taking a scenic drive. These experiences build that connection and create stories that you’ll talk about for years.

Romantic getaways do not have to be complicated or expensive, it just needs to be intentional. Whether you choose a luxury resort or a quiet romantic nature break, what matters most is creating space to focus on each other. With some thought and care, your trip can become a treasured chapter in your relationship.
