Insotel Fenicia Prestige Suites & Spa, Ibiza – Honest Family Review

We just returned from a week’s stay in Ibiza as a family of 5, staying at the Insotel Fenicia Prestige Suites & Spa. Here, I thought I would write a review about what we thought of our time here with our 3 children (aged 14, 13 and 8), what my husband and I loved, liked, and weren’t so keen on. 

This trip was initially booked on a stay-only basis, as when browsing all-inclusive holidays we really couldn’t find anything that we liked the look of and that we considered value for money (spoiler, they seem to be getting more and more expensive!). We also really fancied Ibiza, so decided to look for somewhere that was lux, but where we could just eat out as-and-when, and spend our money on this, rather than the all-inclusive. We also don’t really drink anymore, so thought we also wouldn’t get our money’s worth booze-wise if we did go all-inclusive. 

So why did we choose the Insotel Fenicia Prestige Ibiza? 

Well, firstly it’s located in Siesta, a short walk over the river bridge from gorgeous Santa Eulalia on the South East of the island, somewhere that I know well, having been a good few times as a child and young adult. Secondly, the hotel looked beautiful, and whilst we needed 2 rooms, it was reasonably priced and on the booking section of the website said that we could ask for interconnecting rooms in the form of a junior suite hotel room x2 – which is a HUGE bonus as a family of 5, where it’s tricky to say the least to find suitable accommodation for us all. We wanted somewhere with a chilled vibe, but also a family-friendly hotel in Santa Eulalia, AND with a good atmosphere, and this hotel seemed to tick all the boxes. 

The hotel is rated 5-star and has around 172 rooms, and is designed with both families and couples in mind. The hotel has a large outdoor pool, a smaller children and baby pool, decent-sized pool area, plus there is the impressive Prestige Spa. There’s also a gym, a Mini Club for children in high season, plus a mix of buffet and à la carte dining options alongside a choice of bars. There is free parking just across the road (with EV charging points available) and the hotel is conveniently located about a 20 minute drive from Ibiza Airport so nice and easy (which appealed massively to us after our flight!).

Booking Interconnected Hotel Rooms for a Family

I had emailed as soon as I booked to confirm that we could have interconnecting rooms as stated on the booking site (we booked through BA Amex on their app), but the hotel team member who emailed back said that there was a high chance that they wouldn’t be able to accommodate this due to prioritising people who booked a 2 bed ‘junior suite’ (essentially interconnecting rooms, and who had paid a whopping £2K plus do to so!), but that they would do their best. They advised rebooking a 2 bed junior suite hotel room, but we couldn’t justify the cost, so decided to gamble and hope that at least our rooms would be next door or near each other. I wasn’t overly happy, as the website stated that interconnected rooms could be requested, but I couldn’t see anything that said ‘subject to availability’. Luckily for us, the gamble paid off, and we found out on check in that they did have spare interconnecting rooms available, so we saved ourselves a huge amount of money! Having 2 bedroom  accommodation for our trip made a huge difference to our holiday and experience, so if this is important to you too, then be aware that it is a gamble even requesting interconnected rooms, or that you will have to pay to guarantee.  

Arrival & Check In

Check in was smooth, and the staff really friendly. The hotel lobby is really stunning and smells wonderful – I always forget to ask where certain hotels get their scent from! We were allocated  interconnecting rooms on the first floor, so could easily walk up and down the stairs (although not with luggage!), but there were 2 decent lifts operating if needed for the higher floors. Concierge wheeled our suitcases upstairs, which was great after a tiring journey, and we tipped accordingly, although this didn’t seem to be expected (although we would never not tip!).

On entering our junior suite hotel room I was suitably impressed – it was huge! My husband and I had one room, with double bed and a lovely sofa area, TV, dressing table, and large wardrobe with great hanging space and (the Holy Grail) lots of hangers! The kids shared the connecting room, with two single beds pushed together and a sofa bed made up for our littlest. Even with the sofa bed out, there was still tons of room to move about. Each bedroom also had a whopping balcony with table and chairs, and decent sized bathrooms.

The amenities in these rooms were decent too, but nothing that I would expect from a 5 star hotel. There were robes and slippers for all, fluffy white towels, a Nespresso Machine with plenty of coffee pods and milk, fully stocked mini bar (at a pretty price), a selection of teabags, powerful hairdryer (always bonus points for this!). We were all super-pleased with our rooms, and the icing on the cake was a view of the stunning pool area and a bit of the sea too.

Booking interconnecting suites worked perfectly in terms of our family set up – our kids had their own space while we could still keep an eye (and ear) on them. The rooms felt calm (and, like the rest of the hotel, smelt great!). Good blackout curtains meant that everyone could sleep in well after a late night and the air-con was reliable and we didn’t have to fiddle with it once. My only slight negative about the rooms was that the beds were possibly a bit on the firm side, but this certainly wasn’t a deal-breaker for me.

If you’re look at booking a room at this hotel, I’d recommend requesting a specific view or floor. For example, if you’ve got younger kids, being closer to the lifts makes life easier with a buggy. While we were there, we also noticed some of the higher-tier rooms on offer, and these are apparently the brand-new Prestige Master Suite Roof Top Sea View (added for 2025), which look stunning if you’re after even more space and a touch of luxury.

Swimming Pool

One of the main highlights of the hotel is the stunning pool and pool area. I was a bit apprehensive at booking somewhere without any slides, lazy rivers etc, as I know that our kids have always loved these during previous stays, but I need not have worried. The pool was large, and never once felt overcrowded, and our kids just had fun swimming, playing with another, and playing with a ball sometimes (loads of people were doing this so we never felt like we were being a pain). Lilos and floaties weren’t really allowed I believe, and that was fine. 

The pool is officially open from 10 – 6, although some hardy middle-aged men still seemed to ignore the pool cleaning and get their laps in from 9am. The sunbeds around the pool area are some of the best that I’ve experienced – big, comfy, with decent umbrellas and lovely pool towels. As a family of 5, we also loved the fact that one side of the pool had rows of 5 sunbeds together – so there was no ‘billy no mates’ situation for my husband or myself whilst we had to scramble to get another bed. Like all hotels, they proclaim to have a ‘no sunbed reserving’ policy, and whilst at Insotel Fenicia, there isn’t a mad 6am scramble, we observed that towels started to get put down from 8.30 onwards, which I guess is fairly civilised depending on what you’ve experienced before!

The whole pool area is also spotless, something I really noticed and appreciated, having been to hotels where keeping the pool and sides clean seems to be an uphill struggle. There is a pool bar which serves drinks, snacks and lunch. We didn’t eat here for lunch as we thought it was super-expensive (about 20 Euros PP for chicken strips!), but we did order some drinks. Expect to pay a fair bit for these – a coffee was 5 Euros pp, and juices similar. 

Other Facilities

The Prestige Spa is one of the highlights of Insotel Fenicia Prestige, with over 1,200 m² of thermal circuits, pools, saunas and treatment rooms. It really feels like a proper retreat within the hotel. The spa is very tranquil, and although it’s very much an adult space, the hotel does offer dedicated children’s opening times, which is a thoughtful touch for families.

For those looking for some ‘couple time’ away from the kids, there is also the Fenicia Mini Club, which runs in high season for ages 4 112. It’s not a huge kids’ club compared to larger resorts, but reviews say that it’s well run, with friendly staff and plenty of activities to keep little ones busy for a couple of hours. I can’t comment on this particularly, as our older kids were too old, and our littlest is a stubborn holiday club refuser!

Dining

Food is a real highlight at Insotel Fenicia Prestige and something that they promote a lot. Their buffet restaurant offers a generous spread at breakfast and dinner, with plenty of variety and a few live cooking stations. Whilst we were going to add breakfast on when we arrived, we decided not to as it was going to be £125 a day for us, and we HAD to book the full week, rather than being able to opt in for a few days, which was a shame, as we probably would have booked. We just weren’t prepared to pay £875 for the week, just for breakfast! Instead we bought fresh pastries from the nearby supermarket, and yoghurt, cheeses and fruit, which we stored in our room fridges. 

However, for something special, there’s Sa Talassa, the hotel’s signature restaurant now led by Álvaro Sanz, who brought Ibiza its first Michelin star and Green Star. This is a fantastic choice if you want more of a chilled night in at the hotel, although it’s worth booking in advance as tables are limited. During the day, there is the Tanit Pool Bar (as I mentioned before) for light bites.

One of the draws of staying in Siesta is that you can easily stroll across to Santa Eulalia’s promenade, marina, and ‘restaurant street’ where we sampled several amazing restaurants and tapas places – there are so many places to choose from, all family-friendly!

Verdict – Insotel Fenicia Prestige Suites & Spa Ibiza

We absolutely loved our stay overall at the Insotel Fenicia Prestige Suites & Spa, and would definitely stay here again! It had such a chilled, lux vibe, still with a great, bubbly atmosphere for families, but without pretension or snobbiness. If you’re looking for hotels with interconnecting rooms, then add this one to your holiday list – they’re honestly a godsend for larger families.

The facilities are second-to-none, the staff can’t do enough to help you and are attentive-yet-discreet, and the whole hotel is spotless. Honestly, one of the cleanest I’ve been in. The rooms were cleaned perfectly each day, and the housekeeping team even seemed to notice what particular coffee we’d been drinking, and replaced accordingly! Another example of management obviously keeping on tops of things effectively, was when a chunk of the side of the swimming pool seemed to have come out – it was immediately cordoned off, and replaced with no sign of damage first thing the next day.

My only negative would be the breakfast booking situation, and not being able to book individual days if you fancied it. I think they’re missing a trick here, as I’m sure more people would book it if they could perhaps pick and choose a few days. Otherwise I don’t think breakfast is value for money, as even going by 5 star prices, it’s expensive.

  Yes, interconnecting availability is typically on request, but they won’t guarantee it, and will advise to book a 2 bed junior suite (which is essentially the same thing).

• Is the hotel walkable to Santa Eulalia town and beach?
  Yes, it’s set on the seafront by the Santa Eulalia River with a super-easy and pretty walk to the promenade, marina, bars and restaurants.

• Is there a kids’ club and children’s pool?
  Mini Club (4–12) runs in high season. There’s a kids’ pool and a baby pool. 

• How good is the spa and can kids use it?
  Prestige Spa is sizeable (1,200 m²) with a thermal area and the hotel also offers children’s opening times – check before booking.

• Is the area quiet at night?
  Siesta is really chilled and quiet at night, but you can still stroll to Santa Eulalia for dinner and drinks. We loved the setting, it was superb and felt very safe.

• Are there good dining options on site?
  Yes, there are plenty of options. There is the buffet restaurant, bars including the Tanit Pool Bar and fine dining at Sa Talassa (Álvaro Sanz).

• How far is the airport?
  About 21 km, which is typically 25 minutes depending on the traffic.

• Is the gym at Insotel Fenicia Prestige Suites & Spa Ibiza any good, and can teens use it?
  It’s modern and teens 16+ can use it. It has slightly weird opening times though of 11am until 6pm – you would think it might be open first thing for the morning exercisers, but no.

• Is the beach sandy and suitable for kids?
  Santa Eulalia’s beach is family-friendly and close. The beaches are a 5 minute walk away and the sea is generally calm and safe. We went swimming several times and really enjoyed ourselves!

• Is Wi-Fi reliable?
  The hotel has free premium Wi-Fi which was fine to use.
