Getting my cook on with Gousto, and an amazing Gousto discount code offer! Posted on February 27, 2017 By Becky As someone who loves their grub, I’m always surfing the net and browsing numerous recipe books for new and exciting meals to cook. Yet sometimes, time constraints and tiredness mean that the whole meal planning thing and then trotting off to the supermarket to purchase said ingredients isn’t very appealing. But what happens when you want a bit of a treat, and tasty home-cooked food without resorting to takeaways on a Friday night (something we’ve started to steer away from more and more)? Enter, Gousto! Now I’d actually heard of Gousto before, so when I was offered the chance to try out one of their recipe boxes I thought “Why not?”. We’d been living with my in-laws due to building work for a few weeks, so all of our usual meal planning was up in the air, and I thought it would be nice to treat everyone to a delicious meal, with ingredients delivered straight to the door. For those who don’t know, Gousto allows you to select one (or more) of the numerous recipes on their website, they are then delivered to your house on a date of your choice, and all you have to do is follow the ace, easy-to-read recipe card inside and voila- a tasty home-cooked meal with little effort! Browsing the Gousto website, I decided to choose Sticky Honey Mustard Sausages, with potatoes and spring greens with a twist. I selected my delivery date, and then sat back and waited for my box to arrive. And thankfully, arrive it did. I have to say I was really impressed with the way the boxes were packaged up and the quality of the ingredients- minimal packaging waste, but with enough ice packs to keep my delicious Cumberland sausages chilled, and these apparently last up to 24 hours (just in case you’re late home receiving your delivery). That evening, I followed my recipe to the letter, and the results were pretty decent (if I do say so myself!)- the sausages with honey mustard glaze spot on, potatoes cooked just right, and the spring greens with rosemary, garlic and butter a big hit. So much so, that I’ve decided this is the only way I’m going to do my spring greens in future! Gousto clearly have a fantastic recipe development team who know what they’re talking about when it comes to ingerdients and flavour combinations. So would I use Gousto again? I definitely would, especially as an alternative to a takeaway or an M&S meal on a Friday night, or for a more special occasion. I think for a family it can be quite an expensive way of regular cooking, and for those with young children lots of the meals are quite ‘grown up’. Our children aren’t particularly fussy, but I would definitely class most meals in the ‘grown up treat’ category, or if used on a more regular basis for real ‘foodies’ who would get a great deal of pleasure out of creating something a bit different. I definitely recommend trying a box though to see what you think. The great thing about Gousto is you can order a box as a one-off, or have a weekly box, or whenever you want really- it’s totally up to you. I have a brilliant offer today for those of you who are interested in trying a Gousto box. Using the code FRESH10 once you’ve selected your box, you will get £22 off a box for 2 people, and £25 off a 4 person box (usual price example is £34.99 for 3 meals for 2 people, so using this code means your box will only cost you a tenner!).
