Find Your Way Back to Nature with These Ideas Posted on April 14, 2026April 15, 2026 By Becky Nature is everywhere, and yet, sometimes, it is elusive. Perhaps you live in the middle of a big city, or you are just a very busy person with little time to enjoy the great outdoors. If you feel like you are experiencing a disconnect with the natural world around you, there are many things you can do to reengage with it; you just need to determine what will work best for you and the people in your life. Here are some tips to help inspire you. Invest in a Farm Whether you grew up on a farm, visited your grandparents’ farm on the weekends and summer holidays, or are simply interested in pursuing a more agrarian lifestyle, you might want to consider investing in a farm. There is a broad offering of farms that range from large commercial entities and family farms to small plots of land and hobby farms. If you would like to begin farming, it is important to find the right size to fit your lifestyle. Once you do, invest in high-quality equipment, such as these tractor parts, to help maintain your essential machinery. Farming is one of the best ways to be outdoors and connect with nature while growing and raising your own food. Start a Vegetable Garden at Home If you are looking for something smaller than a farm, but would like to have better access to fresh produce, look no further than your own back garden. You can easily start a kitchen garden, only a few steps from home. Assess your property to find the best location. Take note of how much sun your intended planting area receives throughout the day, and how easy it will be to tend and water. A few rows of raised garden beds might serve your needs better, especially if your ground soil is not conducive to growing vegetables. Gardening is a wonderful way to spend more time outside in the fresh air and sunshine. Spend More Time Outside One of the best ways to get back to nature is to simply step outside. Regardless of where you are, there will be something natural to behold. It might be a bird on a sign in front of your apartment building, or a few flowers growing wild in a sidewalk crack, or maybe it is a beautiful park near your home. Take a walk and observe the natural world around you. Here are some more ideas: Family nature walks Walk after dinner Go on a nature scavenger hunt Train for a fun run Set up a backyard obstacle course Go geocaching Watch this entertaining video of a father and son geocaching and having fun in the woods. Whether you decide to pursue farm life or stay closer to home, it is important to spend more time outside in nature. Go ahead and pick out a few seed packets at the store. Start a garden and enjoy tending to it while watching the fruits of your labour. Get your whole family involved and have more fun together outside.
