Our mustard yellow playroom Posted on July 27, 2022March 19, 2026 By Becky Even though we had so much work carried out on our home last year, I feel I have actually barely written or photographed what we’ve had done, so without further ado I thought I would share with you our mustard yellow playroom! I had always dreamed of a playroom that would be a lovely space for the kids to play (although to be honest it is more Arlo now who this is geared up to, as F and S are now much older), but it’s also fantastic that we have a dedicated room in which to store most of the kids toys, games and crafting things. The yellow playroom comes as the result of us converting our garage when we completely remodelled our downstairs last year, which also included kitchen renovation, new utility and shower room, plus adding a partition wall to our living room. For a garage conversion the room is a decent size. Aside from the mustard yellow painted half way around the walls (an acquired taste, but the kids like it!), one of the best things has been using two Ikea Pax wardrobes for storage- they hold SO much, and whilst white at the moment, I’m toying with painting them half yellow too in order to match the walls, although this is risky if we do change the wall colour in the future, as I’m guessing it would be much harder to upcycle the wardrobe colour then. We’ve used this older Ikea Kallax storage from Arlo’s room over here- it’s so versatile – I just need to replace the boxes soon as these ones are looking a little tatty. I also love that there are dedicated spaces for his play kitchen and market stall, and I will definitely mourn the day when these are no longer played with as much! We had cafe style shutters installed to match the rest of the house, as well as the same kind of raw metal radiator that we have in our living room, office and master bedroom. I’m so pleased with this yellow playroom. It was a bold move paint-wise but it’s such a bright and cheery space, and one that can hopefully turn from a small person’s playroom, to an older child’s hangout when needed! Our Home A new shelf in the living room Posted on January 28, 2016December 20, 2021 One of the things I’m really please I’ve done already this year blogging-wise, is to create a home ‘bucket list’ of all the things I’d like us to achieve this year. I feel that already it’s keeping me accountable, and I got a little buzz yesterday when I could tick… Read More

I feel that the end of November is okay, and if… Read More
Our Home The Beginning of a Bedroom Posted on February 13, 2017December 20, 2021 One of the rooms I never feel we’ve quite got ‘right’ in terms of decor and feel has been our bedroom. Whether it was in our first flat, the main bedroom in our old house, or lastly (pre-move) our lovely loft room, they have never felt quite ‘us’. To be… Read More
