Our mustard yellow playroom Posted on July 27, 2022March 19, 2026 By Becky Even though we had so much work carried out on our home last year, I feel I have actually barely written or photographed what we’ve had done, so without further ado I thought I would share with you our mustard yellow playroom! I had always dreamed of a playroom that would be a lovely space for the kids to play (although to be honest it is more Arlo now who this is geared up to, as F and S are now much older), but it’s also fantastic that we have a dedicated room in which to store most of the kids toys, games and crafting things. The yellow playroom comes as the result of us converting our garage when we completely remodelled our downstairs last year, which also included kitchen renovation, new utility and shower room, plus adding a partition wall to our living room. For a garage conversion the room is a decent size. Aside from the mustard yellow painted half way around the walls (an acquired taste, but the kids like it!), one of the best things has been using two Ikea Pax wardrobes for storage- they hold SO much, and whilst white at the moment, I’m toying with painting them half yellow too in order to match the walls, although this is risky if we do change the wall colour in the future, as I’m guessing it would be much harder to upcycle the wardrobe colour then. We’ve used this older Ikea Kallax storage from Arlo’s room over here- it’s so versatile – I just need to replace the boxes soon as these ones are looking a little tatty. I also love that there are dedicated spaces for his play kitchen and market stall, and I will definitely mourn the day when these are no longer played with as much! We had cafe style shutters installed to match the rest of the house, as well as the same kind of raw metal radiator that we have in our living room, office and master bedroom. I’m so pleased with this yellow playroom. It was a bold move paint-wise but it’s such a bright and cheery space, and one that can hopefully turn from a small person’s playroom, to an older child’s hangout when needed! Gardening Installing our new climbing frame with Rainbow Play Posted on February 8, 2018 This is a post I’ve been SO excited to write, namely because it’s a project that we’ve been waiting on a long time, since we moved into our house over a year ago, and also because the garden has been a fairly slow-burning project and it’s just brilliant to now… Read More
Our Home Trimming the tree 2014 Posted on December 1, 2014 Yesterday we (and when I say ‘we’, I mean ‘I’) could no longer hold back, and set about attending to one of my favourite activities of the year- decorating the Christmas tree! After an illness-plagued birthday on Saturday, I thought focusing on all things festive would cheer me up. We… Read More
