5 Fabulous ways to support other bloggers Posted on December 10, 2021December 10, 2021 By Becky One of the things I’ve loved most about blogging over the years is the sense of community and support out there online. I’ve made some lovely friends, online and then some have become real life pals, and it’s something I never expected when I started dabbling with blogging over 6 years ago, nearly 5 years on this current blog. Now that a lot of blogging is more commercial, which whilst great for the old bank balance means that bloggers are often busier than ever, and that organic sense of community has dwindled a little *sob* I have to admit I do miss the days of reading blogs for hours on end (although I know many people still do do this, hurrah!) and the organic comments and interaction that came through doing this. I even miss some of the good old ‘linkies’ that everyone used to join in with. Anyway, I digress, but what is the point of all this blogging now if people aren’t interacting like they used to? I know lots of people do still read blogs (see above) but everyone seems so damn busy these days to show the love as much which I always think is a bit of a shame. I blame Instagram, haha! So how you can you get back into the blogging groove and help other bloggers? And this doesn’t just apply to bloggers either- if you’re a regular blog reader but don’t have one of you own, you can still show your support in a variety of ways. Here’s how… Engage! Nothing warms my cockles more than a reader leaving a comment on this blog. If you’ve written something opinionated or you ask for opinions you’re not always going to read what you want, but providing comments are constructive and not nasty then they’re very much welcome- they definitely liven things up! Also, if brands see that a blog gets a lot of engagement then they’re more likely to want to work with them because they’re conversation starters, and show that people actually read them. This has reminded me to spend more time commenting on my favourites, as it really does mean a lot to people. Click on their other links At the bottom nearly every post I write, I leave a link to ‘other posts you may like’ or like this post ‘see my other posts on blogging here’. By reading bloggers’ other pages you can help their bounce rate (which is the percentage of visitors that leave without clicking on another page within the blog), and bloggers would much rather this stat was as low as possible. Word of warning though- do not go mad clicking on links within the blog here, there and everywhere like a maniac as you could actually damage their stats as you look like a bot. A couple of clicked links are absolutely fine! Interact with their social media accounts This is so important to us, and what with algorithms and other social media annoyances, it can be really hard to get seen on the different platforms these days. Liking, commenting and RTing on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and YouTube helps to make us more visible, so if you happen to hang out on one of these platforms then please stop by and show us a little love whenever you can. Share their posts Sharing/retweeting social media posts, or sharing blog posts on social media is such a ovely thing to do- and after all, how does anything go viral in the first place without a little sharing?! Share blog posts to your Facebook page, RT content to your Twitter feed… it all helps us greatly. Support Sponsored Content I KNOW people can get a little funny when it comes to bloggers and ads and earning money from blogging, but when a blogger has written something that’s fabulous and relevant to you/their blog, even though it might be in partnership with a brand, then please show some love! Any interaction on these kind of posts really help the blogger and impress the brand and you may help them gain more work in the future. After all, most bloggers are earning money from doing this job so they can spend more time with their families/ care for family members/ have a more flexible work-life balance, not because they are all “LOOK AT ME!”, so any support can really help improve a blogger’s life- seriously. Do you have any other ways you support bloggers that I’ve missed? I’d love to hear in the comments below!
