Why Your Home isn’t Selling and What You Can Do About It Posted on November 19, 2024December 8, 2025 By Becky Sometimes it can feel like an eternity when you are trying to sell your home and you can’t seem to find a buyer. Either way, there are things you can do to try and make sure that you are getting a good offer. Choosing the Right Estate Agent One of the first things you need to do is choose the right estate agent. It’s commonplace for you to go down to your local high street and pick someone, but at the same time, you need to avoid doing this if you can. It’s important to take your time and choose someone who reflects your interests. We live in a world where you now have more options than ever when selling your home, and it seems that online estate agents have taken the power of all things digital. They have also created a way of selling that’s faster than using a high street agent. Asking Price You also need to ask yourself, is the asking price realistic? A lot of traditional agents tend to value properties to be higher than what they are worth. The main reason for this is because it gives them more leeway when it comes to offers. With that being said, you need to make sure that you are not asking too much. Your estate agent should be able to advise you on things like this, so be sure to keep things like that in mind. There are things you can do to try and increase the asking price too, whether it is putting in a new floor, or decorating. You can find herringbone flooring online if you are stuck for ideas, and this can be a great way for you to get a sleek look without compromise. Your Photos Are Bad If you have listed your properties online then you may find that people are drawn to the way it looks. With that being said, you do need to make sure that you give some thought to the images you’re using. If the photos you’re using are poor quality or if they are not a realistic representation of your home then this can have a huge impact on how quickly your home sells. Buyers will assume there is something to hide a lot of the time, too. If you are not happy with the images that have been taken of your home then you may be able to request that the agent create a new set. Provide references of what you think is quality photography and see if they can match it. If you want to bypass the entire process of professional photos and listings, you could contact a cash buyer like those from Panhandle Real Estate Investments, or a similar firm, for a direct, no-hassle sale. This option eliminates the need for marketing materials entirely, allowing you to move quickly to a closing date. Your Home Isn’t in a Good Location Another major issue is if your home isn’t in a good location. That doesn’t mean that every buyer is going to feel the same as you. You need to try and market your home accordingly and you also need to take into account any developments that may be happening nearby. If you can do this then you will soon find that it is easier than ever for you to get the result you need out of your home sale.
