Simba Hybrid Mattress Review {2025}

One of the things I think I could safely say is pretty embarrassing with regards to our home, was the fact that our old bed mattress was over 20 years (Adam had it before I even came on the scene!). Despite getting increasingly more aches and pains in the morning, and knowing that it should be replaced, it was something that fell to the bottom of the ‘to do’ list. That is, until we decided to bite the bullet and upgrade our bed to a bigger one, and then had the opportunity to try out the Simba Hybrid Original Mattress (king size) to go with our new bed.

Spoiler alert: it’s a total game changer!

So when we were on the hunt for a new mattress that could keep up with my ever-changing sleep positions (seriously, I think I hit all of them in one night), plus bed-hopping kids, we took a look at Simba king size mattresses – and our Simba Hybrid Original mattress soon delivered in ways I didn’t even know I needed!

First Impressions of the Simba Hybrid Original mattress

The Simba king size mattress was delivered in a box that was much smaller than I was expecting, perfect if you don’t have a huge amount of space, and also easy to hump up the stairs. Unboxing was easy, what with it being vacuum-packed, and it inflates before your eyes, which is oddly satisfying. The mattress is soft, but not too soft – on first touch it felt inviting but also supportive.

As you can see here, Daphne the cat was also pretty taken by our new Simba King Size mattress!

The cover is smooth and cool to the touch, a nice little hint at what’s to come. If you’re wondering how long the mattress takes to inflate, I can tell you that it takes 6 hours to fully inflate, plus anothet 72 hours to fully regain its shape – which wasn’t ideal as we didn’t finish putting our new bed together until about 10.30pm! Not the mattresses fault, but definitely consider this when you unbox it – perhaps best to do so in the morning if you can!

The Science Bit (But Not Too Science-y!)

Okay, I’m not going to pretend I’m a mattress expert, but Simba’s whole hybrid thing is pretty cool. The Simba king size mattress combines five layers of sleep-time joy – including a mix of memory foam and 2,500 micro-springs – which basically means it’s got the support of a traditional spring mattress but with that lovely contouring feel of memory foam. You get the best of both worlds! No more waking up with a stiff back or sore shoulders. The Simba Hybrid Original mattress also has a clever cooling layer so you don’t get hot and bothered.

Sleeping Like a Baby (Or Better!)

The mattress does this thing where it supports you without feeling too firm. I’ve slept on other memory foam mattresses before (our kids have one from somewhere else), and if I’m being honest, I haven’t always loved them, as they’ve felt a bit soft and like I’ve sunken in, leaving me feeling stiff in the morning. The Simba king size mattress, however, has definitely felt different (in a good way!), as it hugs your body but still lets you move freely. It also absorbs motion like a pro, so if you’re sharing a bed, you’re not disturbed by the other person moving, which is of course, ideal!

In terms of looking after the Simba Hybrid Original mattress, it should be turned regularly, and moving it about is made easier by the fabric handles on either side of the bed.

Verdict: Is the Simba Hybrid Original Mattress Worth It?

In a word: YES. Whether you’re a side sleeper, back sleeper, or something in between, the Simba Hybrid Mattress adapts to you. It’s supportive, comfortable, and cool – everything you want in a mattress. It’s an investment, but considering how much time we spend in bed (and how crucial good sleep is), it’s one worth making, and something I wish we’d committed too several years ago when our old mattress was already on the way out. We’re really happy with it, and I would highly recommend!
