Exploring Tenerife with kids Posted on June 5, 2024January 21, 2025 By Becky Keen to jet off to Tenerife with your family? Plenty of activities await, allowing you and your little ones to spend quality time together. Plus, it’s an excuse to escape reality, enjoy some sun and immerse yourself into a brand new location. Here are some activities to consider, as well as some selection of travel tips that will help make sure your trip to the island runs as smoothly as possible when exploring Tenerife with kids. Make a travel budget There’s no getting away from the fact that family holidays can be expensive. However, there are some things you can do that allow you to get more for your money. Start saving a travel pot as early as possible to maximise the amount of disposable income you’ll have to spend. Try to be as realistic as you can with your budget so that you can factor in everyone’s needs. Ideally, start saving before you come to booking, as this will take the pressure off. Often, last-minute holidays can help to reduce costs, which is why it’s handy to have a pot ready to go. Bear in mind the types of activities that kids across different ages will enjoy. For example, a teen may prefer certain holiday activities while tiny tots might be happier with something else. As long as you accommodate your kids as best as you can, you’ll have a great time together that ideally integrates as little screen time as possible. Dolphin watching Wildlife is something that excites both kids and adults. Luckily, Tenerife is known for its resident bottlenose dolphins on the southern coast of the island. There are many boat trips that allow you to see them up close. If you’re lucky, you could even see them from the coast. Keep an eye out for Pilot whales too. Alternatively, you could head to Aqualand, one of Tenerife’s many water parks. Here they have an award-winning dolphin show you can enjoy together. Siam Park Speaking of water parks, when Exploring Tenerife with kids ,Siam Park is a must-visit. In fact, it’s considered one of the best water parks in the world. Highlights include the 28 metre-long water slide for slightly older kids, as well as toddler-friendly areas and attractions. The Mai Thai River is a fun thing to do as a family as it takes you around the entire park and incorporates slow and fast sections to keep you on your toes. Teide National Park Teide is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that’s considered one of the 12 wonders of Spain. It’s home to the Roque Cinchado, a volcanic rock formation that looks other-worldly. Marvel at Mount Teide and soak up the bizarre surrounding landscape in all its glory. This area is great for taking some unusual family photos! See more of my travel posts here!
