How to choose the perfect bed for you Posted on October 2, 2017December 20, 2021 By Becky There are so many important things to consider when it comes to choosing your bed, from the look and size, to comfort and support, so it’s important to make sure you spend time looking for the right bed for you. We spend around a third of our lives in bed, which makes it even more important for it to be a cosy space for you to sleep to your hearts content. If you’re in the process of looking for a new bed, here are the main things you should consider before you make a purchase. Shop Around You wouldn’t go out and buy a brand-new kitchen without taking a look in a few different places to see what’s available first, so why would you buy the first bed you see? Your bed is an investment, it’s something you’re going to have for many years to come and you’re going to be using It every single day, so it needs to be perfect. Take a look in a few different shops at the different styles available, find out different prices and see what works best for your budget. By shopping around, you can often save yourself some money too, as you may find that one bed is more expensive in one shop, whereas the same bed could be considerably cheaper in another. Figure Out Sizes Many people decide on the size of their bed before even thinking about whether or not it will fit in the room. It’s always worth measuring the area that the bed is going to go into, so that when you find the right one you can measure up and make sure it will definitely fit. You may find that additional extras such as headboards may make the whole piece slightly too big, so it’s important to always check before you make your final decision. Have a Lie Down The most effective way to know whether the bed you’re looking at is for you or not is to simply lay on it. The moment you lay on a bed you know whether it’s a yes or a no. Whether it’s too wide, not high enough or maybe the slats are too spread apart, these are all things you’ll notice once you lay on the bed itself. Everyone’s requirements differ considerably when it comes to their beds, so what works for one person may not work for you. With this in mind, you need to try before you buy and get a proper feel for the bed before you decide to take it home with you. Select a Style With so many different bed designs on the market, it can be very overwhelming and difficult to narrow your choices down to just one. Try to think about the current décor of your bedroom, or how you want the room to be styled, as this will help you to choose a bed that is going to fit in perfectly. There is a huge range to choose from, including stunning oak beds, luxurious padded designs, leather frames and even metal structures, you have so much to look at and the style of the room is often the strongest contributor to your final decision. Opt for Space One of the best things about having a snuggly, cosy bed is being able to sprawl out and make the most of the comfortable space you have. This is why it’s important to opt for a spacious bed, giving you plenty of extra room to spread out like a starfish and relax. When you’re shopping for your bed, look for styles that have a little extra space around the sides, as this will make you that little bit more comfortable and you’ll have a wonderful night’s sleep. Body Considerations Lying in bed for a few hours can be harmful to your back, if you don’t have a bed that is supportive and designed to keep your back in good shape. It’s always beneficial to check that the bed is going to give you the support you need, as otherwise you may start to suffer from back ache or issues in the future. Investing in a good quality mattress will help you to make sure your laying in a good position w with proper support throughout your night’s sleep. What kind of bed do you have at home?
