Honestly, I’m still buzzing about it, and the kids haven’t stopped asking when we can go back! Let me be completely honest with you – as a mum of three finding a holiday that keeps everyone happy is basically like trying to solve a Rubik’s cube blindfolded! But after our previous amazing experiences at Eurocamp resorts in Italy, I knew we were onto a winner with the Eurocamp formula.

When I was researching Eurocamps near airports, Le Ruisseau kept popping up as one of the most convenient options. Located just outside Bayonne, it’s seriously close to Biarritz Airport – we’re talking about a 20-minute transfer in a taxi, which is an absolute godsend when you’re travelling with kids who’ve already been cooped up on a plane!

Can we talk about how stress-free the journey was? I cannot emphasise enough how much of a game-changer it is to have such a short transfer from the airport. We flew from London Gatwick via Easyjet (there are loads of Eurocamp holidays with flights options from various UK airports), and before we knew it, we were pulling up at our 3 bedroom mobile home at Le Ruisseau.

The fact that this South of France Eurocamp is so accessible makes it perfect for families who want maximum holiday time and minimum travel faff. Trust me, after years of long car journeys to European campsites with “Are we there yet?” on repeat, this was pure bliss!

Our Home Away from Home – The 3 Bedroom Mobile Home

Our accommodation was absolutely spot on! The 3 bed mobile home at Le Ruisseau Eurocamp was spacious, clean, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The deck area became our little sanctuary – morning coffees for Adam and me while the kids had breakfast and planned their daily adventures, and evening drinks while watching the sunset. There’s something so lovely about having that outdoor space where you can properly relax.

The mobile home was perfectly positioned too – ours was close enough to all the action but far enough away that we could have some peace when needed. With three kids ranging from 5 to 11 on this trip, having separate bedrooms was essential for maintaining some semblance of sanity!

The Pool Complex – Where the Magic Happens

Oh my word, the pool area at this Eurocamp South of France resort is absolutely incredible! The kids (and let’s be honest, Adam and I) spent hours and hours here. The waterslides were a massive hit with all 3 kids and even Freddie, who sometimes acts too cool for family fun, was bombing down them with his dad. The pool complex really is the heart of Le Ruisseau, and it’s easy to see why families keep coming back year after year.

The 9pm pool party became a bit of a ritual too, and was a treat for Arlo, who was delighted that he was allowed to stay up and party for this! There’s something so fab about watching kids from different countries all dancing together to cheesy pop music while parents chat over a glass of wine. Holiday magic!

Adventure Seekers Paradise – Tree Top Ropes and More

If you’ve got older kids or teenagers, the tree top ropes adventure course is an absolute must! Freddie and Adam were like kids in a sweet shop, challenging themselves on the various levels while the rest of us cheered from below. It’s brilliant that Le Ruisseau caters so well to different age groups – from Arlo’s excitement at the smaller pool slides to the teenagers getting their adrenaline fix on the high ropes.

The real showstopper when it came to the tree top ropes was the zip line across the pool (suitable for older kids)! Watching Freddie and Adam take turns zipping across while Sasha and Arlo cheered them on from the poolside was such a great family moment. See if you can spot him in this photo below!

This variety is exactly why I’d call Le Ruisseau the best Eurocamp South of France for families with mixed-age children. There’s genuinely something for everyone, which means no one’s left feeling bored or left out.

Dining, Local Eateries & Food Shopping

The onsite restaurant at Le Ruisseau was surprisingly good! We had several lovely family meals there, and it was so convenient for those evenings when no one could be bothered to cook or go furtherafield (let’s be real, that happens on holiday!). The kids loved the relaxed atmosphere, and Adam and I appreciated having decent food without having to venture far from our mobile home.

But one of the highlights was discovering the local restaurant within walking distance. There’s something so special about strolling to a proper French bistro for dinner, especially when the kids are old enough to appreciate trying new foods. Sasha surprised us all by ordering mussels – and actually eating them! This ice cream and apple cake dessert was perfection.

The onsite shop at Le Ruisseau was an absolute lifesaver too! It’s so well-stocked with all the basics you need – bread, milk, pasta, tinned goods – but what really impressed me was the selection of lovely fresh fruit and vegetables. There’s nothing quite like picking up proper French tomatoes and peaches that actually taste like they should! The kids loved choosing their own snacks, and I loved that I could grab fresh ingredients for simple meals without having to trek to a big supermarket. It’s these little conveniences that make all the difference when you’re trying to balance that holiday relaxation with practical family life.

Exploring Beyond the Eurocamp – Biarritz and Local Towns

Being so close to Biarritz was absolutely brilliant. We spent a gorgeous day exploring this stunning coastal town, and it reminded me why the South of France is such a magical destination. The beaches are incredible, the architecture is beautiful, and there’s such a lovely laid-back vibe that even the kids picked up on. We spent a lot of time playing Uno whilst having a cold drink!

The nearby town of Bidart (which you can easily get to from the campsite via a bus outside) was perfect for exploring, checking out the local beach as well as trying out a proper Boulangerie for fresh bread (although you can buy fresh French sticks from the onsite shop). There’s nothing quite like picking up fresh pastries and fruit from a proper French market – it makes you feel like you’re really experiencing the local culture rather than just being a tourist. We spent some time at the beach here, which was huge – much bigger than we expected.

Having stayed at various Eurocamp resorts over the years, I can honestly say that Le Ruisseau Eurocamp ticks all the boxes for what makes a perfect French family holiday. The combination of excellent facilities, convenient location, and some lovely French charm creates something really special.

The proximity to Biarritz Airport makes it genuinely the easiest Eurocamp to get to from UK, which is huge when you’re juggling kids, luggage, and the general chaos of family travel. But it’s not just about convenience – the resort itself offers that perfect balance of relaxation for parents and excitement for kids. Lots to do but not too busy if you want to just relaxing in your accommodation. 

Practical Tips for Your Le Ruisseau Adventure

Best time to visit: We went during the summer holidays, and while it was busy, the atmosphere was absolutely buzzing. If you can be flexible with dates, slightly off-peak might give you a bit more space around the pools. We didn’t have a problem getting sun beds, but the staff are very strict and every now and then they blow a whistle and you have to stand by your sun bed and claim your towel! Any unclaimed ones are removed! Brutal but effective.

What to pack: Don’t forget pool shoes for the kids – those pool areas can get quite slippery! And definitely bring a waterproof camera if you want to capture those epic waterslide moments.

Booking flights: There are loads of options for Eurocamp holidays with flights from various UK airports. We found great deals by booking several months ahead, and the short transfer time means you’re not wasting precious holiday hours travelling.

Local trips: Definitely factor in a day trip to Biarritz – it’s absolutely beautiful and gives you that perfect taste of French coastal culture.

Hand on heart, I can say that our stay at Eurocamp Le Ruisseau was absolutely fantastic. From the moment we arrived (via that gloriously short airport transfer) to our last evening watching the kids at the pool party, everything exceeded our expectations.

If you’re looking for a Eurocamp South of France experience that combines convenience, great facilities, and that special holiday magic that keeps kids talking about it for months afterwards, then Le Ruisseau should definitely be at the top of your list.

The kids are already asking when we can go back, and honestly? I’m already browsing dates for another trip as it’s definitely been one of our favourite Eurocamps to stay at so far.
