Little Loves – House Renovations, Dungarees and New Notebooks

What a week! I’ve probably said before that I’m someone who likes to be kept busy, but you know when you have those weeks where they’re so mad that you can’t wait for it to be over, just so you can breathe? Well I’ve had one of those this week- lots of lovely things happening, but with work deadlines, important house decisions to be made plus over-booking myself with seeing friends that I otherwise won’t get to see for a while…well, let’s just say by Sunday I will need a lie down! Throwing in the fact that we’re moving back into our house tomorrow after our bathroom and kitchen renovation, and it really is all go, go, go! 

In between the madness, this is what I’ve been up to this past week…

It’s amazing that I’ve had time to read anything this week, but I have. I caught up on ‘Red Magazine’, a subscription that Adam bought me for Christmas, and I’m so glad he did as it gives me licence to actually sit down and take a breather with a cuppa, oh, at least once a month! 😉 I’ve also managed to catch up on a few of my favourite blogs recently, and I thought this post by Suzanne was brilliant and really relatable, even if she is a few years further down the line than me marriage-wise. It’s something that everyone in a relationship and with a family should have a read of- I have bookmarked it for future reference!

Watched

Adam and I finished watching ‘Taboo’ on Saturday, and I thought the ending was great, and kind of how I wanted it to be. There’s nothing worse than watching a really great series, and then the ending being an anti-climax! I loved The Crown, but when we finished that the other week we were a bit disappointed with how it finished. Pre-Taboo, I thought Tom Hardy was a bit over-rated hotness-wise (although always a brilliant actor), but I’ll eat my hat now and can see what everyone was was raving about. I even found him strangely attractive when he was having his wicked way with his sister, so I don’t know what that says about me! 

I also loved watching the first part of the gripping BBC 1 Thriller ‘The Replacement’- the acting from Vicky McClure and Morven Christie was brilliant, and I can’t wait for the next installment on Tuesday. McClure’s character Paula is so irritating, it made me feel ridiculously tense. Remind me to vet my maternity leave cover before I go off in a few months!

Family-wise I watched my tennis-mad little ones play in their lessons on Monday, and was over moon when both of them won ‘player of the week’ and a trophy in their respective groups, something that probably won’t ever happen again where they both win on the same week! I’m so proud of them, and particularly Sasha for persevering. Freddie has always been naturally quite good (and he is a year older then S), but where as she would enjoy taking part, she could never really hit the ball. Something inside has ‘clicked’ with her now, and she’s hitting balls low over the net, left, right and centre! She also has a cracking backhand, and she’s the perfect example to me of ‘practice making perfect’ and keeping on with a hobby for enjoyment no matter how good you are. 

Heard

I enjoy to listening to XFM on the school run in the morning, since we’ve had to drive whilst staying with my in-laws, and absolutely LOVED Lorde’s new song, ‘Green Light’ it’s a real grower! 

Wore

This week I’ve finally had to face facts that the majority of my clothes don’t fit now I’m nearly 6 months pregnant, so I ordered some from ASOS Maternity this week. I now have a few T-shirts, a funky black/white animal print dress, and the stretchy dungarees of dreams (pictured). The dungarees are AMAZING, and I’m hoping they still fit once I’ve de-babied as they’re perfect for food-related gathering where you’re going to eat a lot! 

Made

The past few days have been all about making lists- for my day job as a digital marketing manager, blog work, and general life/child admin. I find people who don’t need to make list fascinating and definitely a special breed of person- I rely on them so much! My best friend bought me a lovely new notebook for Christmas, and I christened that this week. There’s nothing like starting a fresh notebook for making you feel motivated at the beginning of the working week! 

I also made lots of not-so-exciting decisions house-wise (who knew it could so hard to choose shelf brackets for scaffold boards?), but also made the time to by some lovely spring flowers. I can’t wait to get back in our house tomorrow and make some choices when it comes to buying furniture and bits and pieces for our new kitchen- not that I need any excuse to shop that is!
