Our Loft En-Suite Bathroom Posted on February 23, 2016December 20, 2021 By Becky For a while now I’ve wanted to take some snaps of our new loft bathroom, and this weekend gone I finally got round to doing so! We had a our loft conversion completed last September, and along with our bedroom we decided to include an en-suite bathroom, to save us trekking downstairs every time we wanted to spend a penny or have a shower. I’m glad we did, and even though it’s a much smaller space than our main bathroom, I really do love it, it’s such a bright, calm environment. We didn’t have a huge budget on top of the actual building work to spend on fixtures and fittings, but I think we’ve done a pretty good job considering, once again sourcing bits from low-cost Ebay stores and also through using our builders’ contacts. It pays to shop around! Let me talk you though our bathroom using the photos… We decided on floor-to-ceiling bright white subway tiles and dark grey grout, to compliment our middle bathroom tile-wise, but because we also felt that all white would feel bigger and brighter in a small space. We love the look of New York loft bathrooms, and wanted to recreate that feel here in SE London (a girl can dream, right?!). I created a Pintrest board at the time, and put together the sort of look we were going for. The sink and unit underneath it came as one, and were from a local bathroom shop. There wasn’t room for big cabinet, but we still needed somewhere to tuck all those little bits and bobs away, and this does the job perfectly. I love the sage green colour too. Aah, one of my favourite finds to get a bargain on, radiators! I seem to be good at sourcing cheap (yet decent) radiators for throughout the house, and bought this one from yet another EBAY Store. This traditional fixed vertical wall radiator was £153, which is a steal considering I’ve seen them for three times that price on bigger bathroom retail sites. Always worth a look and reading the overall feedback before making a purchase. We (touch wood) haven’t had a problem with any store yet. I love this Lemongrass Soy candle from ‘Lollyrocket’. My friend Steph bought us a set of these for our wedding back in June, and they smell divine, I love them! Thanks to the lovely Emma for the recommendation. This little £3 Ikea mirror was supposed to be a temporary measure until we hung up another mirror that we had in mind. The latter mirror is now in our living room as we decided it would be too risky tile-wise to hang it up as it was really heavy, so the Ikea one has stayed! I actually really like it, and even though the focus isn’t great, it does a job. Like our downstairs bathroom, we decided to go for a giant shower head, to create that power-shower feel. But unlike downstairs we decided to go for something different valve-wise, and went for an exposed one this time as opposed to an integrated one. I love the look, and as long as you keep on top of the cleaning of it, it stays nice and shiny and looks great! I like this simple, cheapo Ikea shower bits and bobs holder that just sticks on to the tiles with tightened suckers- it keeps the bathroom looking minimalist and holds quite a lot of stuff. I bought a simple, white wicker laundry basket from Marks and Spencer using some vouchers we were kindly given as a wedding present. Unfortunately it usually looks more overflowing than this! Like the other bathroom, we decided to get the builders to install just plain glass instead of the traditional frosted glass, as I love the look of the quirky frosted film you can buy instead. In the other bathroom we have frosted stars, and this time I decided to go for this gorgeous pattern. This was probably our most extravagant purchase for what it is (about £70), but I think it’s worth it and helps ‘make’ the room. It’s fairly easy to apply, although you need a bit of a steady hand! We got ours from WindowFilm.co.uk An overview of the space- because everyone loves a loo shot! We went for fairly dark, wood effect flooring from a local family-run shop. I was thinking about some lovely, patterned tiles, but thought it would be too much for the size of the bathroom, and I’m glad we kept it simple now. Full-length shower shot. So what do you think? That little radiator is such a great find, it looks brilliant. I love those big shower heads, they would be in my dream bathroom. Our bathrooms are pretty boring at the minute, this looks like such a bright space, I love it! #HomeEtc Reply
I love white subway tiles with grey grout, it’s such a gorgeous look. The radiator is fab too, I love it! What a beautiful space. I love your style. We have also recently bought a radiator on line, for half the price of in the shops. Definitely the way to go. I’m glad the window film has worked for you, we are going to put it in our downstairs sash widows to stop the nosey parkers staring in! They are a much nicer alternative than nets I think. Reply

Ooo, your bathroom is pretty similar to mine but I went for oversized white tiles for the wall instead. I dream of New York lofts, too, but sadly, I think it’s time to give it up (or maybe just stay in one for a few days on holiday). Reply

Ah this is so dreamy, I would LOVE to have it in my house. We have wood effect vinyl in our bathroom and I really like it as it’s much warmer than tiles. Off to look at that window film now.. #HomeEtc Reply

Looks lovely. I think white and bright is the way to go in small bathrooms. We’ve opted for a similar shower head for our new bathroom, can’t wait for it to all come together! Reply
It looks GORGEOUS!!! I can’t wait til we’ve got the cash to redo our ensuite. I dream of a modern loo and sink — although we’d definitely keep our lovely roll-top. My tip for making the space bigger — and WOW it really does double the size of the space — would have been to only half tile the wall behind the sink — then get a glazier to cut a custom piece of mirror for the area above. We’ve done this a couple of times now, in various houses, and it looks awesome. You can also add a little shallow shelf to separate the tiled area from the mirror — and then you have a useful little ledge for toothbrushes other bits and bobs 🙂 Thanks so much for linking up with us — I hope you can join us again tomorrow from 6am on #HomeEtc Reply

Ah I see what you mean now I am in!! I can see why you were sad to leave this lovely space behind. You’ve got some really great pictures there and, of course, the tiles – I am going to be writing a post around these little fellows as there seems to be rather a lot of different types (and grouting) to choose from. There are certainly some similarities between my ideas and your finished article. I don’t suppose you can remember the size of the room now? It’s beautiful – on the next room!! Reply
