Preparing for a Garden Makeover at Home

Posted on July 28, 2021 By Becky

A garden makeover is a great way to make the most of your outdoor space. Just having a garden is excellent, but a lot of people feel like their garden is a little boring. If you’re thinking about a garden makeover, you first need to get ready to carry it out. There are a few things for you to do to get ready for reinventing your garden. You need to decide what you want to do with it and you can probably benefit from some help from a landscaper. Before you start making over your garden, make sure that you have done the following things.

Plan Your Makeover

To makeover your garden, you first need to decide what you want to do with it. Maybe it’s currently completely paved but you want to put in a lawn or some flower borders. Or perhaps you want to go in the opposite direction, paving it over or installing a deck to make your garden more low-maintenance. A landscaper could help you to plan what you want to do, although you don’t necessarily need to have a professional to help you. You can get ideas and even plans online to find inspiration for your new garden.

Create a Budget

You need to know how much your garden is going to cost. Setting a budget is important if you want to avoid spending too much. But how much should you spend on your garden makeover? The first thing you might want to do is research prices for the changes that you want to make. For example, how much will it cost to install a new lawn? You might have to adjust your expectations based on what you can afford. However, it’s also possible to do many things with a small budget, so don’t be immediately discouraged if things seem expensive at first.

Clear Out Your Garden

Before you can start to give your garden a makeover, you might need to clear it out. This could involve moving furniture or perhaps dealing with any overgrowth. If you have garden furniture that you need to move, it could be helpful to hire a self storage unit if you don’t have anywhere to keep it at home. While some people might have a handy garage or shed that they can use, hiring a storage space could be the most convenient option for you. It will be much easier to start making changes if you have a blank slate to work with.

Find Professional Help

You could carry out work in your garden by yourself. Depending on what changes you want to make, it could be possible to take the DIY route. However, if you want to save time and effort, or you just don’t have the skills, getting someone else to do it is the easier way. Hiring a landscaper or gardener will make the process a lot quicker and simpler.

Before you give your garden a makeover, get it ready by doing all of the planning and organising.
