Bag Trends of 2021: Top Styles We’ll Be Seeing This Spring

Posted on December 14, 2020October 22, 2025 By Becky

You may find it interesting that we are talking about bag trends. Yet, this year has been filled with tracks and slacks, strolled on the couch, the new stay-at-home fashion due to the coronavirus lockdown. And handbags have spent a better part of the year as wardrobe accessories. That said, who’s to say that official attire and trends are behind us? In fact, in 2021, they will be so embraced as everyone gets back to the norm of going back to the offices and re-opening stalled businesses. There’s no better time than now to upgrade your collection and go with the trends.

The patterns and trends on the runway for the Spring 2021 bags collection were almost as appealing as their ready to wear fashion counterparts, with seasonal supports such as briskly coloured bursts and straw textures and timely fashion flashes such as a substantially large cow-print tote and splinting bags.

The range is vast but let’s delve into the following five upcoming bag trends:

Oversize Totes

Oversize totes are an excellent pause after you’ve been worn down by mini bag fatigue. You know, those tiny little pieces that probably only fit your lip balm?! Well, be ready as this upcoming year it will be all about the leather, soft, and slouchy oversize tote. You can find some gorgeous totes online on Mirta for example, that sells handmade Italian bags. They are practical and big enough to contain all things nice and spice!

Netted Market Totes

This kind of bag is a must-have in every collection and it’s suitable for almost any occasion. The fact that it is see-through gives off some serious summer beach vibes but it’s a great piece to carry with you to the office and throw in your snacks and everyday necessities.

Water Bottle Bags

The perfect companion for anyone serious about their health and water intake. There the runways are full are very many trendy styles available from different designers and with different styles.

Highlighter Colours

With all the dullness and gloom this year has brought, brighten up your mood with colourful bags. From neon pink to green, orange and yellow, these super bright colours are the absolute must of the new season. Plus, they are easy to accessorize with other fashion items.

Clutches

Clutch bags are great for minimalists or an evening out when you want to have fun and not be bothered by carrying along with your entire daytime bag. They are sizeable enough to fit essentials, cosmetics, credit cards and your phone.

Gothic style

As well as bright colours, Gothic-lolita style is bang on trend, and features classic dark colours with lots of lace and velvet, and bags in this style are no exception.

While these may be the top styles of bag trends that we will see in 2021, there’s that personalized touch specific to you. That one item that those who know you see and automatically identify with you. What’s your favourite style? Which of these styles will you choose to wear?
