Win! Orla Kiely Scribble Stem Cotton Bedding Posted on July 29, 2017August 13, 2021 By Becky Today I’m delighted to post the first of a few home and interiors giveaways this week, and to hopefully perk you up, what with this rather rubbish July weather that we’ve been having lately (where is the sun?!). I have always been a huge fan of anything Orla Kiely, and her iconic designs are instantly recognisable, bringing a huge colour injection to any home. We had one of her wallpaper designs in the downstairs cloakroom in our old house, and we are still loving and using some oven gloves that we were bought by a friend 5 years ago (and that are still going strong!). So today on the blog I am giving away some bedding I’ve been waiting to get my mitts on- Orla Kiely Scribble Stem Cotton Bedding in Duck Egg and Sea Grass, available from John Lewis at the moment and what I’m giving away is worth up to a not-to-be-sniffed at £135. The lucky winner will receive 2 pillow cases from the range, plus either a Double or King duvet cover (the winner can name their preferred choice when contacted once the giveaway ends). All you have to do is fill in the Rafflecopter below, using as many of the options as you’d like: a Rafflecopter giveaway Terms and Conditions: Competition closes at 11.59pm GMT on Sunday 27th August 2017. Staying off your mobile phone after a certain time in the evening. Mobile phones are brilliant, as we all know however the light is bad for keeping you awake but it’s also addictive and one search follows another until the wee small hours of the morning! Reply
Switch off all technology at least 45 mins before you go to bed. I always used to always be using my laptop until lights off and I really struggled to switch off and fall asleep. Since switching it off 45 mins before lights out, and reading a book instead, I find I fall straight to sleep! Reply
Sorry haven’t got one as do not sleep very good so will keep a close eye on the suggestions and hopefully this will work Reply

My tip is not to get absorbed in a book right before bed and not be able to set it down to sleep.. My better tip is to make sure you have a good pillow, it is just so important! Reply
A drop of lavender oil on my pillow and to mediate for ten minutes before settling down, as this will really clear your head and help you to relax. Thanks for this lovely giveaway, I love this bedding. Reply
Top tip for getting a good night’s sleep? Simple: Don’t have kids! Seriously. Don’t worry… there’s plenty of upsides to having kids, but getting sufficient sleep for the next couple of decades? Forget it. Reply
Try to get plenty of fresh air and exercise throughout the day and if you have lots of things on your mind then write them down and tell yourself you’ll look at them in the morning. A nice, warm caffeine-free drink; (avoid any stimulants) and a dark, distraction free room at a decent temperature then Bob’s your uncle – a good night’s sleep! Reply
Try to go to sleep and get up at the same time everyday, get as much natural sunlight as possible, move vigorously during the day – don’t sit for more than an hour, limit caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, and big meals at night, take time for relaxing activities before sleep and create a calm and restful sleep environment. Reply
I always have a cup of camomile tea before bed and a comfortable pillow and mattress helps to have a good nights sleep Reply

Try not to worry too much about not sleeping. Sometimes the biggest obstacle is lying awake panicking about the fact that you are lying awake! I find that developing a “what will be, will be” attitude stops me getting stressed out over it and enables me to drop off more quickly. Think of the positives to lying awake when everyone else is sleeping. If you’re like me and you can hardly hear yourself think at times during the day, use your awake time at night as well deserved quiet time or brain space. If you don’t fear being awake, you’re more likely to be relaxed enough to drop off to sleep. Works for me, anyway. Reply
I always leave my TV on at a low volume with the sleep timer on. The small amount of background noise keeps my overactive mind distracted and helps me to drift off. Reply

Keep a pad by the bed and write down anything you think of that you want to remember, so they don’t keep you awake worrying you’ll forget it. Also if you find lots going around in your head when you’re trying to get to sleep, try keeping a diary so you can get everything down on paper, it can help with the sea of thoughts. Reply

Camomile tea. It’s not a ‘tea’ as such but a herb infusion. As long as I don’t drink it later than 9pm, which makes me go to the loo in the middle of the night, I have a very restful deep sleep. Reply
