6 Things to do on a Rainy Day Posted on April 8, 2025 By Becky While the weather might be shifting to the nicer side now, there are still plenty of rainy days coming (especially here in the UK). But, rainy days don’t have to be boring. It might be tempting to curl up in bed and scroll on your phone, but sometimes it’s nice to mix it up a bit. Whether you’re stuck inside alone or have kids bouncing off the walls, there are plenty of ways to spend a rainy day without going crazy. Watch something new One of the best things about a rainy day is that it’s the perfect chance to watch something new. So, grab a blanket, make a hot drink, and catch up on that TV show everyone has been raving about. Or, if you can’t find anything new to watch, a romcom or one of your comfort shows is just as good of a choice. Relax, unwind, and make the most of your rainy day! Do some baking Baking is something a lot of people enjoy but never actually get around to doing much of. And, you don’t have to be a pro to make delicious goodies. You can stick to simple things like cookies or brownies, or you could step it up a notch and try your hand at decorating a victoria sponge. Either way, you get something fun to do and delicious to eat at the end of it. Play some games Board games are a great way to pass the time when there’s nothing else to do. However, if you’re alone, it doesn’t mean you’re out of options. You can play online games for free that will help take away the boredom and add some challenges to your day. A great game to try is solitaire because it’s low effort, but still gets you thinking. Start a job you’ve been putting off This one sounds like a bit of a chore, but if your life is usually chaotic, now is the perfect time to start a job you’ve been putting off. Have you been meaning to sort the kitchen drawer for months or finally strip the wallpaper in the guest bedroom? If the answer is yes, use this time to start ticking off those jobs. Once you get started you’ll be glad that you’re using this time for something productive. Make a fort with the kids If you’ve got kids, rainy days can be a nightmare. Thankfully, a blanket fort is endless hours of fun! All you need to do is throw a few cushions on the floor and drape a sheet over some chairs and voila! Your kids will be entertained for hours and you can relax a little too. Do something creative Finally, if all else fails, do something creative. Grab some paint and paint on a canvas or do some doodling while you’re listening to the radio. It’s a great way of unwinding and you might just find that you’ve got a hidden talent you didn’t know about! Plus, kids love creative time!
