5 Best Travel Destinations for Winter Lovers Posted on March 31, 2022November 27, 2023 By Becky There is no right or wrong answer when it comes to the time you should book your next holiday. It all comes down to travelling, it is all about personal tastes, and finding the best travel destinations for winter lovers (or summer for that matter!) If you are a person who loves winter holidays, this is the perfect article for you – I guess that this is not a surprise after reading the title – as we will present five cities in the world that you can appreciate more than anyone else. Are you ready to find your next holiday destination? New York, United States We will start with a basic but terrific option which is New York. The ‘Big Apple’ or ‘The City that Never Sleeps’, as it is also known as, is famous for sunny days with very low temperatures. The freezing cold does not stop tourists from strolling around the iconic city and visiting popular attractions, such as the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Broadway theatre and Central Park. Another great way of visiting the Big Apple is via a winter cruise, and a cruise line such as MSC Cruise run fantastic trips in and out of New York City to enjoy! Rovaniemi, Finland Another popular destination, especially at Christmas, is Rovaniemi. It is a unique place as in most seasons you can watch the Northern Lights or meet Santa Claus. For winter lovers, Rovaniemi is an interesting place to go to even in summer. The temperatures remain pretty low, but you get to see the sun not setting. Chamonix, France When France is mentioned, its cosmopolitan capital, Paris, usually comes to mind. The second thing that comes after that is the countryside and then the Alps. One of the most beautiful little towns which is located to the north of Mont Blanc and combines the mountainous raw beauty and luxurious ski resort facilities is Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, or simply Chamonix. You shouldn’t miss your chance of booking your ski holidays from Erna Low there, as besides the fun winter activities you can do at the resort, the town has a rich history that is worth discovering. Kastoria, Greece One more option of a city that is not the first thing that comes to mind when we think of the particular country is Kastoria. Although Greece is famous for its islands and its sunny weather, it is a mountainous country. This explains why this city in northern Greece is perfect for winter lovers. It usually snows there as it is surrounded by mountains, and there is a lake in the centre of the city which freezes in the winter months. Prague, Czech Republic Prague is both the capital and the largest city in Czech Republic, and you should definitely visit this mysterious city in the heart of Europe. You will be awe-stricken by the impressive Gothic churches, mediaeval mansions and buildings, the combination of the old town and modern architecture. It is a city that it is worth discovering on foot so that you can wander around scenic neighbourhoods that will make you feel like you have travelled back in time.
