Why Dressing for Yourself Beats Following Fashion Rules Posted on November 11, 2025November 12, 2025 By Becky If you’ve got a wardrobe full of clothes you swore you’d never wear again, now’s the time to dig through it. 2025 has decided that fashion rules don’t really matter anymore, and honestly, it’s made getting dressed a lot more fun. When it comes to making your own style, you need to ensure that you’re doing whatever you need to in order to create this for you. Too many people style themselves around what they think they should look like, or what they think is in fashion right now. The problem with this is that it’s not your personal style, it’s an imitation of others. In this article, we’re going to be showing you that creating your own personal style doesn’t have to be a challenge, so keep reading down below if you would like to find out more. Be True To Yourself First, you need to make sure that you’re being true to yourself. Dressing and accessorizing yourself is something that is a personal experience, and only you know what you’re the most comfortable in. The whole point of your personal style is to express yourself, and how can you do this if you’re not even being true to yourself? The short answer is that you can’t. We know that this can be tough when people have a bad habit of making fun of others, but the best thing that you can do here is not care. Sure, it’s easier said than done, but if you dedicate yourself to it then we’re sure you can find a way. Accessories like round glasses can be a subtle but powerful way to show off your individuality without saying a word. Stop Going With The Crowd The crowd is not you. What is in fashion right now is not necessarily what you like, and you shouldn’t have to pretend that it is. It’s perfectly okay to follow the crowd if this is what you like, but it’s something completely different to go against what would be your style for the sake of other people. Just because something is popular, does not mean that you should be following it. Doesn’t mean that you find it appealing, and doesn’t mean that it’s the right path for you to follow. It’s time to break away from the crowd, and we promise that it’s far easier to do than you think it is right now. What Makes You Comfortable They say beauty is pain, but it doesn’t have to be. Being comfortable is one of the most important things about your personal style. We don’t necessarily mean physical comfort either, but being comfortable in the way that you look and what you’re wearing. For example, you might love to wear embroidered t-shirts because they are comfortable and they represent some of the brands that you love. Or, you might like to pair clashing colors because you like the way that they look. At the end of the day, if it makes you feel comfortable, then that’s what matters. Nothing else is important other than how you feel.
