When to Wear a White Dress

Posted on March 28, 2024April 13, 2024 By Becky

The white dress is one of those undeniably classic pieces that will never go out of style. And with its timeless nature, comes a whole world of opportunity when it comes to where, when and how to wear one. Styling a white dress can take so many different forms, and with the right accessories and tweaks just one white dress can actually see you through countless magical memories, special events and celebrations to come. From the cool and the casual, to the show stopping styles they’ll never forget, keep reading to inspire your next white dress look.

Make it modern

A white dress may be a classic, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t experiment with a feel modern updates to make the style feel like your own! Choose a midi dress with cool, exposed corsetry with external boning and sheer panels for a figure-defining silhouette that feels incredibly fresh. Alternately, look for a body-con dress with eye-catching side waist cut outs for a striking yet simple look that will make your next entrance unforgettable.

Think twice

A two-piece set is one of those great investment pieces which instantly gives you the perfect outfit, while also giving you a whole world of styling opportunities outside of your new look, too. Choose a strapped cropped shirt with floating feathers, beading or lace balanced with a figure-skimming midi skirt, wide-leg dress pants or a floaty maxi skirt for a stunning outfit that is as comfortable as it is chic. You can swap out the bottoms or denim or colourful pants for an elevated look that is ready for the dance floor or dress your skirt or pants with a denim shirt or cropped tee for an understated look that still feels put together.

Bohemian beauty

For the free-spirit feeling with a healthy dose of style, choose a bohemian midi dress made from tiers of embroidered white fabric in a light and loose silhouette. Search for an intricate neckline with delicate halter straps or a crossover wrap accent for an extra hit of personality. You can dress this up as much as you like – think stacks of beaded jewellery, statement colourful shoes or an oversized hat. When it comes to boho, more really is more.

Let there be lace

If you’re looking to put together a truly magical look that is sure to turn heads, then a white dress made from delicate lace is your answer. This style is perfect for the modern bride who wants an unforgettable gown for her special day, or for black or white tie events when you want to look as breathtaking as possible. Choose a classic mermaid cut silhouette with a strapless sweetheart neckline, figure-hugging bodice and elegant leg split which traces up your form. All you need to do is slip on some simple heels, pull your hair back and add metallic adornments for a striking ensemble that is sure to leave an effect.

Which one of these white dresses will you try for your next special occasion? No matter what style you go for, any one of these styles is sure to be one that you wear and love for countless years to come.
