What to Pack When You Stay in One of Charleston’s Boutique Hotels

When most people think of boutique hotels, they imagine trendy urban areas like New York City or San Francisco. But boutique hotels can be found in just about every city and town in America, including Charleston. Charleston is home to several unique boutique hotels, each with its personality and style.

If you’re planning on staying in one of the charleston boutique hotels, there are a few things you’ll want to be sure to pack. Here’s a list of what to bring:

Comfortable walking shoes

Charleston is a historic city with a lot to see and do. You’ll want to be comfortable while exploring everything it has to offer. So, pack some sturdy walking shoes. If you are worried about the weight, make them your footwear on the aircraft and save weight in your suitcase.

Sunscreen

Even though Charleston is in the South, the sun can be pretty intense. Remember to pack sunscreen to protect your skin.

We cannot underestimate the power of the sun and the effect it can have on us. At the very least, sunburn can be painful and uncomfortable. There is also skin cancer to worry about. It is better to be safe than sorry. Check out the factor that you need and be aware of how easily you burn. You can now have peace of mind about your trip and being out in the sun.

A hat or sunglasses

In addition to sunscreen, a hat or sunglasses will help keep the sun out of your eyes. Choose a style that suits you but will also be protective. Do not sacrifice protection in the name of fashion.

Consider the different hat designs. A wider brim will be more protective. A baseball cap will only shield your eyes from the sun if you wear it the right way around. That is unless you are trying to shield your neck from the burning rays of the sun. But then, that is what sunscreen is for.

Beach gear

Charleston is located on the coast, so if you’re staying in a boutique hotel near the beach, don’t forget to pack your swimsuit, towel, and sunscreen. Have a change of footwear that is in keeping with a beach.

You do not have to perhaps pack so much beach gear as other things, though, because there will no doubt be plenty of it available to buy at the destination. These are the kinds of items that will be sold to tourists as a matter of course.

Dress clothes

If you’re planning on going out to any of Charleston’s nicer restaurants or bars, you’ll want to dress up a bit. Make sure to pack at least one nice outfit. Laundry services at hotels can mean that you do not have to pack too much, even for an extended stay.

Comfortable clothing

Charleston can be pretty hot, so you’ll want to pack light and airy clothing that will keep you cool.

Light clothing will also take up less room in your suitcase. That is certainly something to think about. We want to allow room in our suitcase to bring back souvenirs.

An umbrella

Charleston gets a lot of rain, so an umbrella is a must. That is unless you want to buy one while you are there with one of Charleston’s designs on it to remind you of your trip. Still, you cannot guarantee the shops will have what you need.

Remember too that umbrellas are not just for rain, they can be used as a sun shield.

 

These are just a few of the things you should pack when staying in one of Charleston’s boutique hotels. With these items, you’ll be sure to have a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
