What Knocks Your Wellness Routine Off Course And What Actually Helps Posted on January 31, 2026 By Becky The truth is, people aren’t going off and deciding to abandon their wellness routines on purpose – it’s more likely that it just falls to one side and slips away, and after a few busy weeks, you realise that you haven’t actually done any of the things you wanted to that make you feel better. Life basically gets in the way of your own wellness sometimes, and it’s something that happens to everyone. The key is to put things back on track, and with that in mind, keep reading to find out more. Being Too All-Or-Nothing One of the biggest reasons why routines end up falling apart is that you’re trying to reach perfection, so if you miss a workout, skip a healthy meal you planned, or you stay up too late, it can totally feel like the whole thing is ruined, so you just stop. What actually helps is forgetting the idea that a routine has to be done perfectly to be worth doing at all. After all, a shorter walk still counts, a short exercise routine is better than nothing, some healthy food is better than no healthy food, and so on. Try to be as consistent as you can, and if you slip up, just get back on the right path as soon as you can rather than continuing in the wrong direction just because you made a little mistake. Trying To Do Too Much At Once It’s easy to come up with a routine that looks great on paper but that doesn’t actually work in real life – or doesn’t work for your specific life. Yes, you might plan to have early mornings, long workouts, strict schedules, complicated meals, but if it only works for a few days before reality kicks in, what’s the point? It’s far better to create a realistic routine because that way it’ll last longer and become a habit rather than make you feel guilty because you can’t keep up with it. Start small and choose things you can do even on busy or stressful days because if whatever you’re opting for only works when life is calm and quiet, it’s definitely not going to last for very long. Letting Stress Build Up Stress is something we all suffer from every now and then, and that’s okay – it’s normal to be stressed occasionally, especially when you think about all the things we have to do in life. The problem comes when stress just keeps building up and nothing’s done about it because that can lead to health issues like depression, heart disease, high blood pressure, and more. Simple things can help with this issue, and some ideas that tend to help reduce stress include stepping away from screens, going outside, sitting quietly for a few minutes (perhaps meditating), or enjoying CBD edibles for relaxation, for example. The key is to choose things that can easily slot into your life so that when you’re feeling stressed you can use them to unwind quickly and successfully. Final Thoughts Sometimes life changes, sometimes it’s harder than other times, and sometimes you just feel unmotivated, and that’s when wellness routines can easily fall apart. But if you make them with that in mind in the first place, they’re more likely to hold together and you can enjoy the benefits they bring.
