Tips on Protecting Your Hair When Using Curlers Frequently

Posted on October 17, 2024 By Becky

Heat styling is a procedure that gives your hair beautiful waves and bouncy curls with the use of curling irons or other forms of heat styling tools. While the results are gorgeous, repeated exposure to heat has been proven to damage hair by causing dryness, split ends, and even breaking off entirely. If you frequently curl your hair, like with the TNS automatic hair curler, proper hair protection should be at the very top of your list. Here’s how you can have gorgeous curls without posing harm to your hair.

Prepare your hair with a good heat protectant.

A heat protectant spray or serum has to be applied to the hair. Heat protectants put up a protective screen between your hair and the heat produced by the styling tools. They reduce the damage caused by these equipment. Check for one that contains ingredients such as silicones and glycerine. Silicones help coat the hair, and glycerine helps to retain moisture in the hair.

Keep the heat exposure to the minimum for each strand.

You have some of the best equipment; you can’t just leave your hair in the curlers all day, though. One trick is to limit the time to a maximum of eight to ten seconds for each section of hair. That’s perfect because the TNS Auto Curler usually beeps when it’s time to let go. Be careful though, especially if you are not used to working with automatic tools—that way, keeping your hair in the curler for too long may still be a reason for damage.

Don’t skip regular trims.

No matter how cautious you become with the application of heat styling tools, your hair can never be completely free from sustaining damage over time. That’s why trims take centre stage in ensuring a healthy look for the locks. Every six to eight weeks, get those ends snipped off to remove split ends that would travel along the hair shaft and would wreak havoc even more if left untreated.

Use nutrient-enriching products.

After every heat styling session, replenishment of the moisture and nutrients in your hair is also very essential. Treating the hair with a deep conditioner or hair mask at least once a week is required for the repair of damages done to the hair while also keeping it soft and shiny.

Let your hair rest between styling.

It’s so tempting to curl your hair every day, but it’s really important to let your hair rest. Try limiting hot styling to 2-3 times at the most per week, and on other days try embracing your texture or no-heat styling waves like braiding damp hair.

You won’t have to be among those victims of using heat styles. You can achieve that stylish curl without damaging your hair if you properly use a quality heat protectant, you control the temperature of your curling tool, and you nourish your hair regularly. And this is made possible with the use of TNS Auto Curler, which allows you to have customised settings. And with a bit of care, you have the best of both worlds—beautiful curls and healthy hair.
