The Best Places to Get Married in Greece

Posted on April 5, 2022September 4, 2026 By Becky

Getting married is usually a bittersweet feeling as the excitement of celebrating love gets mixed with the stress of planning a spectacular day for you and your guests to have fun and remember forever.

The good intentions that couples usually have in order to organize the perfect wedding are to be blamed for putting too much pressure on themselves. They get so caught up in the millions of preparations that need to be done that they forget that all that matters is having the people they love around them.

If you are interested in organizing a wedding that everyone will remember is the beauty of the place and the day, then you should definitely consider one of the best places to get married in Greece below.

Place 1: Thessaloniki

Would you like the idea of getting married in a church that makes you feel like you have gone back in time? Thessaloniki is full with grand churches, in the center of the large city, which date back to the Byzantine era. Besides the archaic grandeur of the churches, the second largest city of Greece will have you covered when it comes to any modern needs, like a private car transferring the bride to the venue, photographers, romantic and luxurious receptions, and so on.

Place 2: Symi

It is impossible not to mention at least one island on the best places to get married in Greece list. Greece is full of majestic islands that attract people from all corners of the world. If you are going to get married in summer, you should consider choosing Symi, one of the most beautiful islands in the Dodecanese archipelago. Although Symi is a small island, there are many idyllic and romantic spots that you can discover on goldenappleweddings.com and book the ones that match with the concept of your marriage.

Place 3: Lefkada

One more island that it is worth considering is Lefkada. Lefkada is in the Ionian Sea, part of the Heptanese archipelago. The beauty of the island, with its famous beaches, like Porto Katsiki, and the impressive mountains and cliffs, will be indelibly stamped on everyone’s memories and hearts. Besides the natural beauty, Lefkada is the perfect place for adventurous people as there are many alternative activities that the newlyweds and their friends can try together, like scuba diving, paragliding and other water sports, hiking, mountain biking and so much more.

Place 4: Athens

Another place that has to be mentioned is the capital of Greece, Athens. Athens is the perfect place if you are a couple who thrive in urban and cosmopolitan settings. Athens is full of history and culture as whichever neighborhood or district of the city you are about to go on exploring you will come across ancient findings, like old buildings or protected displays of archeological findings.
