Simple Ways You Can Look Put-Together Each Day

Posted on June 21, 2026June 21, 2026 By Becky

It’s easy to feel like looking good is hard to achieve – easy, at least, when you spend as much time as I do in joggers and pyjamas! Looking good can feel like effort, particularly when one’s wardrobe feels a little on the uninspired side…

But looking generally put-together doesn’t have to mean spending hours on a look, or buying an entirely new wardrobe for the privilege. Indeed, by making a few simple and intentional changes to both your routine and your wardrobe, you can create a consistently polished look for yourself that works for your everyday, and that’s near enough effortless to boot.

Focus On Fit And Well-Chosen Basics

A common mistake that we often make when shopping for our wardrobe is being wowed by fabric and patterns over the fit of the clothing itself. Selecting for fit instead can instantly elevate your wardrobe, even when it comes to the simplest of day-to-day outfits.

Tailored items work with your form, instead of against it; buying high-quality items that suit your form enable you to build a series of outfits that work well, as opposed to having disparate items in your wardrobe. This speaks to the capsule wardrobe philosophy, which will be your saviour when it comes to looking put-together on the daily.

Create Go-To Outfit Formulas To Save Time

In a nutshell, capsule wardrobes are wardrobes that benefit from modular items. Rather than building individual outfits, you’re adding elements to a toolkit – elements that can be utilised in various contexts, when paired with other elements. Taking the capsule wardrobe idea to heart, you can create simple outfit combinations that always look polished, using staple pieces from your wardrobe. There are so many ways to style a blazer with jeans or a knit with tailored trousers, if you have several of each!

Prioritise Comfort Without Losing Style

Comfort is another key consideration when wanting to look stylish each day; glam isn’t always comfortable, and you can’t always be uncomfortable. This means you need to put some careful thought into fabrics and footwear respectively. Knits and natural fabrics like linen are a must, the latter particularly for base layers. Meanwhile, comfortable women’s shoes are the key to looking put-together without sacrificing comfort on-foot.

Pay Attention To Grooming And Finishing Touches

Good outfits are not good just by virtue of being clothes; they need to be styled, accessorised and also worn correctly. This means giving careful attention to your jewellery and accoutrement, and giving yourself the love you so thoroughly deserve. Spending even five minutes on your hair can make a world of difference to your fit, just as much as your choice of handbag.
