10 Magical Places to Meet Santa in Bromley, South London & North West Kent (2025 Guide)

On the blog today I thought I’d share my mega guide when it comes to the 10 best places to meet Santa (a.k.a. Father Christmas) in Bromley, South London, South-East London and North-West Kent in 2025! As a Mum of 3 living in the Bromley area, with kids now aged up to mid-teens, we have had a LOT of experience when it comes to booking Santa visits over the years. Here, I have researched my socks off, and thought it would be useful to do a round up of 10 of the best places to visit Santa this year (2025), and include some key information.

So in this blog, I’ve included dates that Santa’s Grottos/ experiences are running from and to, what the experience is like, when tickets go on sale, typical prices (where published, I’ll try and update these as they come out), plus direct links to book. I’ll also include any personal experience of a Santa Grotto experience if I can!

1) Chessington World of Adventures: Winter’s Tail & the Christmas Village (Chessington, KT9)

This is a Santa experience we did in December 2023, and we had a great time! We booked a festive weekend here, so along with being able to go on a lot of the rides (although not all are open so be aware of that), we booked to see Santa, and overall I’d say it was a really positive experience. The grotto itself was decorated magically with very convincing, snow-dusted theming, reindeer, a cosy Christmas Village, and -crucially- a decent Father Christmas! Unless you live very locally to Chessington, this is more of a big-day-out coming from SE London, rather than a quick grotto pop-in. We enjoyed our stay in the main hotel, and even booked an elf ‘wake up’ visit to our room before breakfast for our youngest! 

2025 Dates & Pricing: Winter’s Tail runs 22 Nov – 31 Dec 2025. Entry tickets are advertised from £22pp on select dates. Access that includes the Christmas Village (where you’ll meet Father Christmas) is listed around £32pp on select dates between 22 Nov – 24 Dec 2025. Make sure you check the ticket builder for your preferred date and time.

Good to know: If you like the idea of turning it into a mini-break, as I mentioned that we did, there are short breaks at the on-site Safari Resort Hotel (pricing varies by date).

How to book it: Head to Chessington’s Christmas page and choose Winter’s Tail/Christmas Village for your dates.

2) The Glades, Bromley: Santa in the Shopping Centre (Bromley, BR1)

This is obviously super convenient for Bromley families, as you can easily park, shop, and meet Santa. Recent years have mixed immersive storytelling around the tree with a traditional grotto inside the centre’s experience space. This isn’t a grotto experience in South London that we’ve personally done (despite living so close!) but we know so many people/ families who have, and pretty much everyone has been happy with their experience.

2025 Dates & Pricing: The Glades’ events page is the one to watch for the official 2025 Santa listing (it’s updated all year). In 2024 they hosted The Night Before Christmas storytelling around the main tree (Fri -Sun, 6 – 22 Dec), and CLIP Theatre has previously run a dedicated grotto inside The Glades’ Experience Shop. Again, handy pointers for what to expect again this year. Keep an eye from early autumn for the official Santa reveal and booking link.

3) Coolings Garden Centre: Santa in the Woods (Knockholt, TN14)

This has probably been our most visited Santa experience over the years. It started off several years ago with a classic, magical visit to the grotto in the woods at the garden centre (which are just gorgeous), which we all really enjoyed. In more recent years, Coolings seemed to go a bit left-field and started running ‘themed’ Christmas grottos, which tbh weren’t actually very festive (in my opinion). I think one year we did their dinosaur themed grotto (okay, weird, but our kids loved dinos then), and then our last experience was a bizarre, space-themed grotto, and after that I’m afraid I was done with Coolings, as it seemed to lose the magic. HOWEVER, for 2025 a proper Kentish festive adventure is apparently back (maybe they’ve listened to feedback), with the resurrection of their lantern-lit woodland paths, playful elves and a theatrical story that then builds to your family’s private meet with Santa in a log-cabin hideaway. More like the classic Coolings, and I have to say, I’m not mad about it! 

2025 Dates & Pricing: Booking is already open. Tickets are dynamic by date/time; guide prices are Children £16-£25, Under-12 months £5.95-£6.95, Adults £6.50-£10. 

How to book it: The booking calendar is on the website and shows all available sessions, and is easy to use.

4) Ruxley Manor Garden Centre: The Big One (Sidcup, DA14)

This is a super-popular, much-loved, high-production grotto with multiple themed rooms (North Pole, toy workshop theme) that ends with your private visit to Father Christmas. This experience is great for wow-factor photos and gifts, and has always had good feedback from friends and local Facebook groups. It’s not a cute, small, experience, but is good if you perhaps want to combine an afternoon out with some festive tea and cake and ice skating (we’ve ice skated here a few times and it’s always been fab!)

2025 Dates & Pricing: Booking now LIVE

• Grotto opens: Weekends 8 – 9 & 15 -16 Nov, then daily 20 Nov – 24 Dec. Pre-booking only.

• Tickets go on sale: Tue 19 Aug 2025 at 10am. 

• Pricing: Sold as a group ticket (your family goes in together): Up to 3 guests £42; 4 £56; 5 £70; 6 £80; 7 £90; 8 £99.

SEN sessions: Ruxley publishes dedicated SEN information each year – check their FAQs when booking, but this is a great option if you have a child with SEN.

5) Hever Castle: Christmas at Hever (Edenbridge, TN8)

We went to Hever Castle for a Santa Visit during covid, and even with Santa flinging a present at the kids from a covid-friendly distance down a chute, it was STILL magical! At Hever you have historic Tudor magic meets big-scale Christmas theming, both outdoors and in. There is a daytime trail, rooms in the main house dressed for the season, and a spectacular lights experience from late afternoon. Father Christmas visits are typically a separately-booked, limited add-on for children (and they vanish quickly so you need to be quick to book this).

This year Hever’s Christmas is themed around “The Land of Oz” where you apparently follow a yellow brick road through glowing displays and richly decorated interiors, and along with my opinion of Coolings and their ‘themed’ grottos that seem to not have much to do with Christmas, I’m on the fence with this year’s offering. 

2025 Dates & Pricing: General public tickets go on sale Wed 1 Oct at 11am (online queueing system in place, and get online early as here gets really busy).

Lights & groups: The official line is that the Christmas lights are on from 4pm (which is helpful if you’re planning a twilight wander).

How to book: Start from Hever’s Christmas page for dates, times, and any Father Christmas add-ons when they’re released. Be ready right at release time!

6) Bluewater: Two Festive Options (Greenhithe, DA9)

a) John Lewis Bluewater – Santa’s Tea Party

A shorter, sweeter meet-and-greet with a story, snacks and a gift, which is ideal if you’d like something less full-on than a multi-room grotto, and a more chilled out experience.

2025 Dates & Pricing: £17.50 per child (+£1.75 booking fee) and £6 per adult (+£0.60 booking fee). Check Bluewater as your location on the John Lewis page. Dates are released by store so keep an eye on these.

b) Winterland Bluewater

A full festive fairground with rides, games, treats and twinkly lights, so again, great to combine with shopping.

2025 Dates & Pricing: Dates “announced soon,” but the FAQs already show festive-season opening hours and entry at £3pp (under-18 months free, although a ticket is still required).

How to book: Use the Winterland site for entry and ride info, and John Lewis for Santa sessions.

7) Greenwich Market: Hospice-run Santa’s Grotto (Greenwich, SE10)

This is a heart-warming, charity grotto in the middle of Greenwich Market – a classic meet-and-greet, gift included, plenty of festive buzz around for photos, food and browsing afterwards. This really appeals as I love Greenwich, especially Greenwich in December, so this might be one that we try this year for the first time!

2025 Dates & Pricing: The Community Hospice lists the grotto at Greenwich Market with time-slotted visits; a Citizen Ticket page confirms selected dates in December with individual family slots. Additional adult tickets are typically a small fee, which is fab for those on a budget (last year £3), and I hate it when adults are charged the price of Mary and Joseph’s donkey for simply accompanying their children! Pricing and dates are confirmed on the booking page as they go live.

How to book it: Keep an eye on the Hospice and Citizen Ticket listings for this year’s dates and prices.

8) Battersea Arts Centre: Santa’s Grotto (Battersea, SW11)

This is a  friendly, community-feel grotto inside one of London’s most beautiful theatre buildings. You can expect storytelling, elves, and a present to take home, all without the crush of a mega-attraction. One for those who like a smaller, more intimate Santa experience in London.

2025 Dates & Pricing: 6 -14 Dec (weekends) and 19 – 24 Dec (weekdays & weekends), 9:30am–5:30pm. £15 per child (accompanying adults go free, hurrah!), plus a £2 transaction fee per order.

How to book: Direct on the BAC site, where you can choose your day and time.

9) Polhill Garden Centre: Santa’s Grotto (Badgers Mount/Sevenoaks, TN14)

A very popular local grotto south of Orpington (the very first one we visited with our eldest son!) and it’s great for families who want that classic garden-centre Christmas i.e. decorations, café, and tree shopping all in one go!

2025 Dates & Pricing: Polhill has said that tickets go on sale Wednesday 3 Sept (morning release; historically 9:30am). Keep an eye on their social feeds and site to confirm details!

Past pricing (for reference): In 2024 children were £15 and adults £2; 2025 prices TBC – check the new listing when it goes live, and I’ll update here when I can.

How to book: Watch Polhill’s events page and social announcements; jump in promptly on release morning as it gets booked up quickly.

10) Eltham Palace: The Spirit of Christmas (Eltham, SE9)

This is English Heritage magic in an Art Deco palace, with immersive storytelling, performances, and a chance to meet Father Christmas as part of the experience. It’s an elegant alternative to a standard shopping-centre grotto if you want something more traditional.

2025 Dates & Pricing: Keep watch on English Heritage/Eltham Palace’s event page for the official dates and booking window as they’re posted.

Book it: Via English Heritage/Eltham Palace events once dates are live.

Tips and Info for Booking a Santa Experience in South London/ North West Kent

When do most tickets go live?
Garden centres and heritage sites tend to open booking Aug – Oct. In our area, Ruxley is mid-August, Polhill early September, Hever early October. Theme parks like Chessington usually publish dates earlier in the year.

How long does a visit take?
Smaller grottos are 10 – 20 minutes (plus any queue). Bigger experiences (Coolings, Ruxley, Hever, Chessington) can comfortably fill 1 – 3 hours with trails, shows and extras. Check your chosen listing for timings and arrival advice.

Is there a charity option?
Yes – Greenwich Market’s grotto supports the local hospice; it’s a lovely way to do good while you get your Santa photos.

What about accessibility / SEN?
Look for relaxed or SEN-friendly sessions. Ruxley publishes SEN details in its FAQs; others often add calmer time slots – drop the venue a note if you need specifics.

Do I need to pay for photos?
Varies widely. Some include a small gift and allow your own pictures; others sell professional photos for a kidney! Check inclusions before you buy (especially at theme parks and large grottos).

I hope this round up has been helpful when it comes to booking the best 2025 Santa experience for your little (or not so little!) ones. I know how stressful it can be trying to find the most magical place that you think your child will enjoy, all with the potential bunfight of getting hold of tickets for some of the most popular places. 

At the end of the day, though, whichever grotto or festive trail you choose, the bit your children will remember is the excitement of the build-up, the sparkle of the lights, and that special moment when they get to actually meet the man in red! So whether you’re braving the big-ticket attractions or keeping it simple with a local grotto, I hope you make memories that will last long after the mince pies have gone!
