10 Magical Places to Meet Santa in Bromley, South London & North West Kent (2026 Guide)

On the blog today I thought I’d share my mega guide when it comes to the 10 best places to meet Santa (a.k.a. Father Christmas) in Bromley, South London, South-East London and North-West Kent in 2026! As a Mum of 3 living in the Bromley area, with kids now aged up to mid-teens, we’ve had a LOT of experience when it comes to booking Santa visits over the years. I’ve researched my socks off again this year, so here’s my round up of 10 of the best places to visit Santa in 2026, along with the key information you need before you book.

So in this blog, I’ve included dates that Santa’s Grottos/experiences are running from and to, what the experience is like, when tickets go on sale, typical prices (where published, I’ll update these as they come out), plus direct links to book. I’ll also throw in any personal experience of a Santa Grotto if I have one!

1) Chessington World of Adventures: Winter’s Tail & the Christmas Village (Chessington, KT9)

This is a Santa experience we did in December 2023, and we had a great time! We booked a festive weekend here, so along with being able to go on a lot of the rides (although not all are open so be aware of that), we booked to see Santa, and overall I’d say it was a really positive experience. The grotto itself was decorated magically with very convincing, snow-dusted theming, reindeer, a cosy Christmas Village, and, crucially, a decent Father Christmas! Unless you live very locally to Chessington, this is more of a big-day-out coming from SE London, rather than a quick grotto pop-in. We enjoyed our stay in the main hotel, and even booked an elf ‘wake up’ visit to our room before breakfast for our youngest!

2026 Dates & Pricing: The Christmas Village runs on selected dates from 21 November through to 24 December 2026. A Christmas Village & Theme Park entry ticket (which includes your Father Christmas visit) starts from £32pp. Turn it into an overnight stay and Christmas Short Breaks start from £62pp. One thing to note: the Christmas Village won’t be open between 27 and 31 December this year, so if you’re planning a visit over the Christmas week itself, book before the 24th.

Worth mentioning too: World of PAW Patrol has now opened at Chessington, so there’s an extra reason for younger fans to tag a visit onto your Santa trip.

Good to know: If you fancy turning it into a mini-break like we did, short breaks at the on-site Safari Resort Hotel are available from £62pp.

2) The Glades, Bromley: Santa in the Shopping Centre (Bromley, BR1)

This is obviously super convenient for Bromley families, as you can easily park, shop, and meet Santa. Recent years have mixed immersive storytelling around the tree with a traditional grotto inside the centre’s experience space. This isn’t a grotto experience in South London that we’ve personally done (despite living so close!) but we know so many people and families who have, and pretty much everyone has been happy with their experience.

2026 Dates & Pricing: As of writing, The Glades hasn’t announced its 2026 Santa event yet, this tends to be revealed in early autumn each year. For a flavour of what to expect: in 2025 they ran a North Pole Adventure (13-21 December) with letter writing, walk-about elves and a meet with Santa in the Central Atrium, and the year before that it was The Night Before Christmas storytelling over three weekends in December. Whatever form it takes this year, it’s usually free to attend on a first-come, first-served basis.

3) Coolings Garden Centre: Santa’s Woodland Grotto (Knockholt, TN14)

This has probably been our most visited Santa experience over the years. It started off several years ago with a classic, magical visit to the grotto in the woods at the garden centre (which are just gorgeous), which we all really enjoyed. In more recent years, Coolings went a bit left-field with ‘themed’ Christmas grottos that weren’t always very festive (a dinosaur-themed one springs to mind), before bringing back the lantern-lit woodland paths and log-cabin Santa reveal last year.

For 2026, they’ve switched things up again with a brand new storyline. This year it’s billed as Santa’s Woodland Grotto, and you’ll meet a cast of Santa’s helpers, including Penny Parcel the Postmaster and Augustas the Postman, on your way through Mrs Claus’ Kitchen and a series of Toy Rooms before your private moment with Santa himself.

2026 Dates & Pricing: Tickets aren’t currently on sale, Coolings are asking people to keep an eye on their Instagram and Facebook for the release date. Every child ticket includes free entry to Willow’s Birds of Prey & Wildlife Trail (worth up to £29.99 for 2 adults and 2 children aged 5-16), redeemable on the day or any other date through December 2026 or January 2027.

4) Ruxley Manor Garden Centre: The Big One (Sidcup, DA14)

This is a super-popular, much-loved, high-production grotto with multiple themed rooms that ends with your private visit to Father Christmas. This experience is great for wow-factor photos and gifts, and has always had good feedback from friends and local Facebook groups. It’s not a cute, small experience, but is good if you want to combine an afternoon out with some festive tea and cake and ice skating (we’ve ice skated here a few times and it’s always been fab!).

For 2026 the format has had a refresh too: you’ll help the elves make reindeer food, build your own “Polar Bear Navigator” with Mother Christmas, then head in for your private moment with Father Christmas, before every child receives a Golden Ticket into the Toy Workshop to choose their own gift.

2026 Dates & Pricing: Booking is already open, tickets went live on 26 August at 10am.

• Grotto opens: 7 November – 24 December 2026, with multiple sessions running each day.
• Pricing: Now sold on a per-guest basis rather than a flat group rate: 2 guests £38; 3 guests £45; 4 guests £60; 5 guests £72; 6 guests £82; 7 guests £92; 8 guests £102. Additional single tickets are £15 each if you need to add someone on (maximum 8 guests per booking).

SEN sessions: Ruxley publishes dedicated SEN grotto information each year, this is a great option if you have a child with SEN.

5) Hever Castle: Christmas at Hever (Edenbridge, TN8)

We went to Hever Castle for a Santa Visit during covid, and even with Santa flinging a present at the kids from a covid-friendly distance down a chute, it was STILL magical! At Hever you have historic Tudor magic meets big-scale Christmas theming, both outdoors and in. There is a daytime trail, rooms in the main house dressed for the season, and a spectacular lights experience from late afternoon. Father Christmas visits are typically a separately-booked, limited add-on for children, and they vanish quickly so you need to be quick to book.

This year Hever swaps last year’s Land of Oz theming (which, if you remember, I was a bit on the fence about) for The Nutcracker’s Christmas. You’ll follow a trail through the gardens, meeting Nutcracker characters, before visiting the Grotto where you’re welcomed by Mrs Christmas, led through snowy woodland scenes and Santa’s workshop, and finally meet Father Christmas himself for a gift. I have to say, a classic Nutcracker theme feels like a much better fit for a castle setting than Oz did.

2026 Dates & Pricing: The event runs 20 November 2026 – 2 January 2027. Annual Members get priority booking from 23 September at 11am, with general public tickets going on sale Wednesday 30 September 2026 at 11am (an online queueing system is in place, so log on early). Hever’s charity partner this year is Air Ambulance Kent Surrey Sussex, with optional donations available when you book.

Lights & timing: Evening illuminations are typically on from 4pm, handy if you fancy a twilight wander.

6) Bluewater: Two Festive Options (Greenhithe, DA9)

a) John Lewis Bluewater – Santa’s Tea Party

A shorter, sweeter meet-and-greet with a story, snacks and a gift, ideal if you fancy something less full-on than a multi-room grotto.

2026 Dates & Pricing: Pricing looks to be holding steady at £17.50 per child (+£1.75 booking fee) and £6 per adult (+£0.60 booking fee), including a drink and snack for everyone. Sessions run throughout December, with days and times varying by store, so check Bluewater as your location on the John Lewis Experiences page.

b) Winterland Bluewater

A full festive fairground with rides, games, treats and twinkly lights, great to combine with your Christmas shopping.

2026 Dates & Pricing: Confirmed for 9 November 2026 – 12 January 2027. This year’s theme is “Reindeer Land”, with ten giant flying reindeer suspended overhead alongside 14,000 twinkling stars and shapes and 2,000m of fairy lights. The Observation Wheel is also back for festive views over Kent by day and a lit-up spectacle by night. Entry pricing was around £3pp last year, worth confirming nearer the time.

7) Greenwich Market: Hospice-run Santa’s Grotto (Greenwich, SE10)

This is a heart-warming, charity grotto run in support of Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice, based in and around Greenwich Market, a classic meet-and-greet, gift included, plenty of festive buzz for photos, food and browsing afterwards. Exact venue details within the market area have varied a little year to year, so it’s worth double-checking the confirmation email or booking page for the precise location once you’ve booked. This really appeals as I love Greenwich, especially Greenwich in December, so this might be one that we try this year for the first time!

2026 Dates & Pricing: In recent years pricing has sat around £10-13 per child (typically including one accompanying adult), with selected dates through December and family time slots. Keep an eye on the Community Hospice’s events page for confirmed 2026 dates and prices once they’re live.

How to book it: Keep an eye on the Community Hospice site and its Citizen Ticket listings for this year’s dates.

8) Battersea Arts Centre: Santa’s Grotto (Battersea, SW11)

This is a friendly, community-feel grotto inside one of London’s most beautiful theatre buildings. You can expect storytelling, elves, and a present to take home, all without the crush of a mega-attraction. One for those who like a smaller, more intimate Santa experience in London.

2026 Dates & Pricing: Santa’s Grotto runs 4-24 December 2026 (a continuous run this year, rather than the split weekends we’ve seen before). BAC are also adding two new festive extras this year: Dear Santa, a live stage adaptation of Rod Campbell’s children’s book running 28 November-24 December, and a Festive Soft Play space for under-5s running 1-24 December. Last year’s Grotto pricing was £15 per child with accompanying adults going free, plus a small transaction fee, worth confirming the exact 2026 price when bookings open.

9) Polhill Garden Centre: Santa’s Grotto (Badgers Mount/Sevenoaks, TN14)

A very popular local grotto south of Orpington (the very first one we visited with our eldest son!) and it’s great for families who want that classic garden-centre Christmas, decorations, café, and tree shopping all in one go.

Genuinely useful new find for this year: Polhill has launched Polhill Plus, a free membership scheme that sends you a priority booking link the evening before general release, giving you a full hour’s head start on tickets before everyone else logs on. Worth signing up for if Polhill sells out fast for you most years.

2026 Dates & Pricing: Sessions run on weekends from 8 November, then daily from 27 November through to Christmas Eve. Each session is capped at 10 children, a professional photographer is included, and you can bring up to 2 adults per child. The exact 2026 on-sale date hadn’t been confirmed at the time of writing, historically it’s landed in early September, so keep an eye on their site and Instagram.

Past pricing (for reference): In 2024 children were £15 and adults £2; 2026 prices are TBC, I’ll update here once the new listing goes live.

10) Eltham Palace: The Spirit of Christmas (Eltham, SE9)

This is English Heritage magic in an Art Deco palace, with a chance to meet Father Christmas as part of the visit. It’s an elegant alternative to a standard shopping-centre grotto if you want something more traditional.

Worth knowing before you book: the format here has shifted year to year, 2024 saw a full immersive theatrical trail through the palace, while 2025 moved to a simpler storytelling session followed by a meet-and-greet with Father Christmas. Nothing’s been confirmed yet for 2026, so it’s a genuine watch-this-space until English Heritage post their events listing.

2026 Dates & Pricing: Keep watch on English Heritage/Eltham Palace’s event page for the official dates, format and booking window as they’re posted.

Tips and Info for Booking a Santa Experience in South London/North West Kent

When do most tickets go live?
Garden centres and heritage sites tend to open booking Aug-Oct. In our area, Ruxley now leads the pack in late August, Polhill usually follows in early September, and Hever brings up the rear at the end of September. Theme parks like Chessington usually publish dates earlier in the year.

How long does a visit take?
Smaller grottos are 10-20 minutes (plus any queue). Bigger experiences (Coolings, Ruxley, Hever, Chessington) can comfortably fill 1-3 hours with trails, shows and extras. Check your chosen listing for timings and arrival advice.

Is there a charity option?
Yes, the Greenwich grotto raises money for the local hospice, a lovely way to do good while you get your Santa photos.

What about accessibility/SEN?
Look for relaxed or SEN-friendly sessions. Ruxley publishes SEN details in its FAQs; others often add calmer time slots, drop the venue a note if you need specifics.

Do I need to pay for photos?
Varies widely. Some include a small gift and allow your own pictures; others sell professional photos for a kidney! Check inclusions before you buy, especially at theme parks and large grottos.

I know how stressful it can be trying to find the most magical place that you think your child will enjoy, all with the potential bunfight of getting hold of tickets for some of the most popular places.
