Marbled Easter Egg Craft

In our house, anything involving paint, and/or things that roll, is always a winner. Enter, the Marbled Easter Egg craft! An easy (and surprisingly non-messy) Easter craft suitable for preschoolers and younger toddlers (with supervision). My little ones are fascinated that a marble can make “all these pretty paint patterns Mummy!” Even several years after I first wrote this post, I frequently revisit, and now this is just the sort of thing that Arlo loves too, and is such a fab Easter-themed activity that isn’t actually that messy (a miracle in itself as it involves paint!). 

You will need:

• Coloured sugar paper
• Old chocolates/biscuit tin with lid (do you need anymore excuses to eat some?!)
• A selection of paints, divvied up into small pots.
• A teaspoon for each small pot of paint.
• A marble for each small pot of paint.
• Scissors.
• A pencil.

Instructions:

1. Placing your tin on a sheet of sugar paper, draw around it with a pencil to make a circle that fits inside when cut out.

2. Using a teaspoon, help your child to scoop a marble out of the paint pot, and place onto the paper, in the tin. make sure there is a fair amount of paint on the marble, otherwise it won’t create a decent pattern!

3. Put the lid on the tin, and then get your little one to roll the marble around for about 10 seconds.

4. Open the lid, and you’ll see that a pattern has been created. Remove marble, and replace with a new one.

5. Repeat with the different coloured paints and marbles.

6. Once your little one is happy with the pattern they’ve created, carefully remove the sugar paper from the tin, and leave to dry.

7. Draw an oval with a pencil on the back of your pattern, to create an egg shape. Cut out, and then you have your Marbled Easter Egg craft!
