How To Prevent Your Car From Feeling Boring

Posted on December 9, 2025 By Becky

Many people buy cars for practicality and day-to-day convenience. But this approach to vehicles is, arguably, quite boring and, if we’re honest, something we all feel.

That’s why it is so critical to do what you can to prevent your vehicle from feeling like furniture in your home. You want it to really make you excited every time you sit in the driver’s seat.

But what can you do?

Put Better Tires On It

One of the easiest ways to make your vehicle feel less boring is to simply put better tires on it. This upgrade is really easy and can be done in about 15 minutes in any tire shop.

Just make sure you equip your car with something sticky and grippy. You want the new compound to hug the road and the rim for ultimate performance and comfort.

Lower It

You could also try lowering your vehicle to see if that makes it any more exciting. Lowering it to between 20 and 30mm is a great thing to do for stability and aerodynamics, and can also increase wheel grip in tight corners.

Also, you might be able to lower it so the exhaust scrapes in a way that feels satisfying. Give it a go.

Louder Exhaust

Speaking of which, you can now get high-performance car parts that give you a louder exhaust. These can provide you with more direct feedback from the engine as well as the crackle and pop sounds you love if you’re a car enthusiast.

Weighted Shifter Knob

Moving the shifter around using stock components can feel challenging. That’s because vehicles don’t come as standard with ergonomic upgrades.

Weighted shifters, though, change this dynamic. They transform what it feels like to go from one gear to another, assisting you on the way (if you have a stick shift).

Rear Sway Bar

Adding a rear sway bar is perhaps the cheapest way to make your vehicle more exciting. Adding one of these cuts down on annoying understeer and gives you more ability to rotate your vehicle, even when tire grip seems to be saying no.

What’s more, it lets you make full use of your back tires. Suddenly, you’re able to rely on them too for corners instead of just the grip of the front tires.

Stiffer Trailer Bushings

You might also get a kick out of giving your vehicle stiffer bushings. These are fun because they improve performance and reduce slop. Suddenly, your vehicle turns better, even if you’re pulling something behind you.

Steering Wheel Upgrades

Steering wheel upgrades are another instant option that’ll make your vehicle handle better. Making these thicker and then adding a red strip at 12 o’clock can put you into race mode. All of a sudden, you feel like you’re sitting in a rally car.

Remove Intake Sound Deadening

Finally, if noise is important to you, you could try removing intake sound deadening. This gives you more engine noise from the motor and reminds you that you’re driving a real performance vehicle.
