Easy ways to update your bedroom

Posted on February 15, 2018January 28, 2022 By Becky

Bedrooms are wonderful spaces. It is nice to spend time together as a family in the lounge or kitchen, but it is also nice for everyone to have a room they can retreat to. For most people their bedroom is the place where they can read, play, do yoga or catch up on work, and do so in peace. As a result, you really do want everyone´s bedroom to be somewhere they like to be. Key to achieving this is decorating it well and regularly updating the decor.

Freshen up your bedding

Updating your bedding is a quick and easy way to change the ambiance of a bedroom. As you can see here you really are spoilt for choice. It really does not matter what your tastes are you can find something suitable.

New light fixtures

It does not take long to change your light fixtures. Periodically, replace your table lamps and lampshades if they are looking a bit dated.

Easy ways to change your window dressings

In a bedroom, privacy is an important consideration. You want to be able to draw the curtains and be certain that nobody can see in. The curtains you choose need to be heavy enough to keep the light out and the heat in. As a result, bedroom curtains tend to be quite expensive, so replacing them every time you redecorate may not be possible. Therefore, you may need to update them in another way. Perhaps, by trimming them with a different fabric or changing the curtain rail and how they are tied back.

Think about the room layout

Another thing that you could focus on is the room layout. This can be one of the easiest ways you make a change and it simply means rearranging the furniture. Perhaps your bed will go against a different wall, or you put a piece of furniture in a different place. This could also be the perfect opportunity to add something like fitted wardrobes. It could be a great way to help you find more space in a room simply by making a few changes.

Updating the flooring

In a bedroom, flooring is important. It is a big element of the room so your choice of flooring has a big impact on the overall ambience of a bedroom.

Carpets are nice and warm, but they are difficult to keep clean. As a result, a lot of people prefer wooden floors. These can be adorned with rugs in the winter, so that your feet do not get cold. Natural wood looks nice, but it can be expensive. Laminate flooring is a great alternative. It is far cheaper and as you can see from this short instructional video very easy to install.

Freshening up your bedroom walls

When it comes to redecorating your walls there are lots of options. Wallpaper is coming back in vogue, so that is one way to do it. Although you should bear in mind that you will need to strip it your walls before you can change the colour of your walls again. Even with a wallpaper stripper, this is a time-consuming, unpleasant and difficult decorating task.

Therefore, if you want something other than painted walls, you may be better off buying wall stickers. These days, you can easily find whole wall stickers that are easy to peel off when you are bored with them.

Hopefully, the above ideas will help you with any bedroom revamp you are planning- what are you favourite ways to freshen up your bedroom?
