Happy New Year and a new look! Posted on January 2, 2021December 20, 2021 By Becky Why hello there! I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year despite the current circumstances? It feels like it’s been a really long time since I’ve given this blog some tlc (a global pandemic, running a business and having to homeschool your kids for 6 months of a year hasn’t helped!), but I feel it’s finally time once again to give it the attention it deserves. When I started this blog back in 2013, it was predominantly as a creative outlet when I was a SAHM to two toddlers, to record being a parent, our adventures, travels and everything in between. This space grew and offered our family a great many opportunities that I am forever grateful for- travel, experiences, reviews. I’ve worked hard on this blog behind the scenes- hours and evenings almost accidentally turning this blog into a job, and through learning so many different skills, I’ve enabled myself to create a business looking after other businesses digital marketing and social media. However, over the past few years I feel like this blog has become a little muddled. I have always recorded my other passions on here- interiors (for which this blog had a stint of being recognised as being pretty good at), fitness, ‘grown up’ travel etc, but I had always felt that these passions of mine just didn’t fit with the fun, childlike name that I had given this blog, like it wasn’t always clear what this blog was meant to be. I think as I began earning well from The Spirited Puddle Jumper, and it became more ‘established’, I was too worried about starting something new. Well, I’ve decided that now is the time to be brave and to start ‘afresh’! I want this blog to still be a source of income BUT also be once again somewhere I write for enjoyment. This blog is going to go back to basics, and be somewhere I can write and enjoy all things to do with parenting- crafts, activities, travel, reviews, just not necessarily featuring my kids as a main focus anymore (especially now they are older, the older two have more of a say in what the feature in!). There can still be great snobbery around parenting blogs and ‘mummy blogs’ in particular (like being a ‘mum’ is terminally uncool), but it’s something I love and still want to enjoy. I’m also a creative Pinterest nerd, and really get a kick out of writing about crafts and activities for content! What I also want to have for fun, is another, new blog now, one that features my more ‘grown up’ passions away from the kids- interiors, our house renovation, travel, books, fitness, fashion, photography…. I’m not so bothered about whether or not this one is something I earn from, or if many people read it, but just another place where I can enjoy being creative in a new way. This new blog is Becky Freeman Lifestyle. I’m still in the process of tweaking the layout of this new blog, moving it over to be self-hosted, and moving over some posts from here that I believe are more suited to a lifestyle blog as opposed to a child-focused one. I feel so happy to finally have two defined online spaces. It really feels like a totally fresh start when things perhaps got a little stale, and two places that I can enjoy writing again once more, alongside running my business. Let’s face it, with life not probably getting back to normal for a while, it’s good to have yet another ‘indoor’ hobby!
