4 Home Improvement Projects To Consider Completing This Year

Posted on October 25, 2024 By Becky

As a homeowner, you have a lot on your mind on any given day. There is always something around the house that requires your time and attention.

It’s important to keep up with making updates to your property over the years. You’ll enjoy living in your home more this way and it’ll be that much easier to sell if you ever want to put it on the market in the future. A good first step is to gather some ideas as to what you can do to improve your property. Here you can review four home improvement projects to consider completing this year.

  • 1. Set Up A Home Office

You may find yourself working from home more so these days. In this case, you’ll want a quiet space and room you can retreat to so you can focus. Therefore, you may want to take the time to set up a home office. Ideally, you should choose a room that gets natural light and has a door you can shut. Decorate your space to your liking and paint the walls a colour that will keep you productive. Hang up some artwork and invest in plenty of storage solutions so you can keep the area clean and tidy. You may also want to include some additional pieces of furniture and use your home office as a guest bedroom when necessary.

  • 2. Finish the Basement

It can be frustrating to have a small home without a lot of square footage. You can add livable space to your home by choosing to finish the basement space. There are many options you have such as turning it into a guest bedroom, an entertainment area, or a playroom for the kids. If you are completing the project yourself then you’ll want to make sure that you get plenty of drywall screws so you can successfully transform your basement space into something spectacular.

  • 3. Install New Flooring

Old and stained carpeting can be a real eye sore. Now is a good time to consider installing new flooring throughout your home. It’s a great way to brighten up your property and make it appear more modern. There are many flooring options to choose from that are durable and easy to maintain and that will give your home a proper facelift. If you go with hard flooring in your home you can always lay down some colorful area rugs for added texture and warmth.

  • 4. Boost the Kerb Appeal

You should also pay special attention to the outside of your home. You want to make sure you’re making a good first impression in your neighbourhood and with passersby. Therefore, another home improvement project to consider completing this year is to boost the kerb appeal. There are many projects you can choose to tackle both big and small. Add value to your property by replacing a cracked driveway or installing new garage doors. Paint your front door a colour that pops and place some plants and small furniture pieces on your front porch. You may also want to update an old mailbox and work on trimming back overgrown trees and bushes.
