So, You’ve Just Finished A Home Renovation – What Now?

Just finished a home renovation? Then you should be proud of everything you’ve managed in the past few weeks. You’ve knocked through some walls, refitted doors and windows, laid your dream flooring, painted in the colours you love, and pulled it all together with some lovely new furniture. 

But whilst it may feel like you’re all done with your renovation project, and it feels like you can relax now, we’re here to say the work isn’t quite over yet! There are still a few things it would be best to do now that your home renovation is ‘complete’, and we’ve listed them below. 

Prepare to Rearrange

No one likes the way their renovation leaves their furniture, even if they’ve carefully planned out where each piece should go. Once you’re actually using the room, you’re going to want to change at least one thing about the way you’ve set it up. Expect this in advance so you don’t go crazy over wanting to move everything around again! 

Of course, this rearrangement could be as simple as moving the sofa a little further back, or swapping it to the other side of the room. It could be a simple matter of moving the TV, and instead of having it perched on a cabinet, hanging it up on brackets on the wall. 

Or it could be the more complicated matter of needing the feature wall to be less intrusive. Either way, be prepared to spot these problems even after you’re done! 

Have a Thorough Declutter

Now that you’ve got a brand new room in your home, why not wind down the job with a proper declutter of the space too? You can stretch this task to the surrounding rooms, or indeed the whole house, and finally get rid of all the stuff that’s been unnecessarily hoarded over the years. 

If you’re worried about the cost of getting a skip after paying for a full renovation, you can easily find out how much to hire a skip by checking local websites. On the whole, however, it won’t be anywhere near as costly as the budget you’ve blown through on the project you’ve just completed! 

Start Saving

You probably used up a good chunk of cash on the renovation you’ve just completed, and your bank account is looking a little worse for wear. As such, now’s the time to start saving up again, and get your accounts padded out and looking good. 

It’s best to do this as soon as you’re finished with your project, as it’ll give you more time to get back to a stable level in your savings account. This will then give you more coverage when a rainy day hits, as well as give you more to spend if you decide the work actually isn’t quite finished yet! 

A home renovation will always have a few aftershocks to it. Make sure you’re ready for these now; the three above aren’t exhaustive, but they are the most common.
