The common mistakes made in digital marketing

Posted on August 5, 2024October 8, 2026 By Becky

It’s a story that can be told all around the world. Businesses with great products that should be in high demand completely underachieve because they do not know how to market themselves properly. It doesn’t matter a jot how good what is on offer happens to be if hardly anyone knows about it. And to make matters worse, they haemorrhage cash trying to raise awareness. The problem here is that the money haemorrhaged to raise awareness could be funnelled into more useful endeavours, such as engaging the services of a great video production company to enhance marketing efforts. It’s vital that you put your money in the right places when marketing a business, and so avoiding common mistakes is the way to go.

It’s madness that because some enthusiastic guy has put together a website by choosing a simple template and that they get regular likes on Facebook, they think they can run a digital marketing campaign for a business. That’s like one of the pit crew at Indianapolis thinking he can become a champion driver. It’s not going to happen. However, those more informed operations that decide to partner an agency such as King Kong are guaranteed to race off into the distance. If you’re in the fintech industry, working with a financial services marketing agency can help you build credibility, reach the right audience, and avoid common marketing mistakes that cost businesses both time and money.

Some of the mistakes that those who decide that they know best when they decide that they will save money and not spend on digital transformation consulting are a recipe for blowing a budget, without any hope of receiving a proper return from it. They lack a realistic goal and just aim at a mass audience when proper strategies require experience, skill, and an understanding of how the algorithm of Facebook and Google works. They don’t know where to look for the correct data or use keywords properly in the same way as successful professionals who guarantee success.

They are wasting time and money because they are not using that information to aim at a target audience who is interested in what they can offer and will want to check out the website. The efforts aren’t even measurable, so nobody has a real idea as to how a campaign is performing. Failing to employ SEO or use a SEO report card tool which can guarantee a website reached the top of Google rankings within three months is quite simply a cardinal sin.

And if by chance someone does click on a link and arrive at a website, they are often met with something that is difficult to navigate and understand and may be slowed down because it’s overloaded with ads in some kind of money saving attempt. Having it developed properly will see leads turned into cash purchases more often while the customers can be part of efficient remarketing so that they continue to return.

Instead of relying on guesswork, the smartest businesses turn to a digital marketing agency to avoid errors being made.
