As a family who have previously championed swimming, and could wax lyrical all day about the benefits of it (more of that shortly!), we couldn’t have been more delighted when Simply Swim got in contact and ask if we’d like to work with them. Simply Swim are an online swim specialist company selling the most sought-after brands and latest swim collections from names such as Speedo and Adidas, from babies through to adults.
Perfect for our family of 5 where we range in age from 1 – 36, and who also take a weekly plunge in the pool for lessons and also when we go away on holiday!
Whilst Adam isn’t a regular swimmer apart from when we take all 3 children swimming for fun, I often swim for exercise at the gym- either to wind down after a class, or as a more hardcore swimming session to get my heart rate up. Within the last year or so I’ve really enjoyed taking to the pool again, something that has made me really happy as I used to absolutely love swimming as a child. I swam competitively, often training up to 5 times a week until the age of 13, and it was a big part of my life. Whilst I don’t see myself competing again any time soon (although a more low-key triathlon does actually appeal!), I really enjoy swimming for both my physical and mental health, and I find the rhythmic breathing of it really relaxing.
Definitely comes under the enjoyable ‘me time’ category.
Now I’ve been swimming more, several months ago I purchased some Speedo swimming goggles, and next on my list is a more ‘sturdy’, slightly more sporty swimming costume (the current boob containment sitch can now be a bit dicey if I’m having one of my faster swims!). Simply Swim also do maternity swimwear, something I wish I’d known when I was pregnant with Arlo a couple of years ago and swimming was the only exercise I could really enjoy doing.
As far as the bigger two children are concerned they have come on it leaps and bounds after a good few years of lessons, with Freddie now on Stage 8 and Sasha on Stage 5 of their Swim England ‘Learn to Swim’ scheme, and are now capable of ploughing through a good many lengths per lesson. We love the fact they are continuing to swim even after mastering the basics, both for safety and for fitness. They already use their goggles, but like myself they could really do with a slightly more sporty pair of trunks/swimming costume, so when they have outgrown their current ones I’m going to take a look at the Simply Swim website and see if they can be kitted out in something cool, colourful yet practical.
So far Arlo (nearly 2) is pretty fearless when it comes to the water which is a good start, and like his big brother and sister we’ll get him signed up for proper swimming lessons when he turns 3 next year. For now, he enjoys our family swimming lessons at the local gym, and playing with some little toys and floaty things in the pool (like the ones that Simply Swim has here). The online shop also has swim nappies and swimwear for babies and toddlers too.
Here are a few of my favourite picks from Simply Swim- a swim costume for me, baby toys for Arlo, swim trunks for Freddie and THE coolest swimming cap for Sasha (who knew you could get such funky ones?!)
