We’re on the move!

On The Move

You may or may not have noticed that I’ve been uncharacteristically absent from the blog this past week or so, which is very unlike me! We’ve had a whole ton of stuff going on that has been taking up huge head space, plus holding two parties at the weekend for Sasha’s 4th birthday, and I’m only just playing catch up now.

I guess the big news is that we’re moving house! I still can’t actually believe it myself, and I’m in a bit of shock to be honest. On a bit of the spur-of-the-moment just before we went to Disneyland a month ago, we decided to put the house on the market. A combination of factors really- we wanted to be a little closer to Freddie’s school (we drive right now, and whilst I haven’t minded it, the thought of another 7 years of doing so once Sasha starts isn’t appealing!), closer to our preferred secondary school, somewhere slightly bigger with a bigger garden and somewhere with off-road parking (#firstworldproblems and all that). What we weren’t expecting was to have a buyer offer the full asking price so quickly, and then for us to find a house that we love and have our offer accepted, all within the space of a week! As it stands, and all going well, we’re looking to exchange at the end of next month, and move in at the end of the July. Which seems crazy when we only thought about moving 3 months before.

I will miss our lovely house a lot, and whilst I am very excited about our new house (more on that in another post), and the fact it’s bigger and has bags of character and potential, there’s a huge part of me that feels sad. It’s taken 4 years to get it exactly as we would like it, and I must admit it feels a little daunting knowing we’re going to be moving into somewhere that won’t be as we’d like it straight away, or even for another year or two.

I have to remember though that we’re very lucky to be able to move in London anyway, and to see the bigger picture, what our new house will end up looking like eventually, and the reasons why we’re moving. Walking around the two minutes to school here we come!

Being a largely interiors-focused blogger it will give me heaps to blog about too (I say that only half-joking 😉 ), and I’m looking forward to having a play about with a new style of house.

So normal service should be resuming now blog-wise! I have been playing catch up today, and my head is finally in a place when I can focus on real life again…until the time comes to pack up the house <reaches for the gin>
