Updating Your Garden On A Budget

The countdown until summer is beginning. This is the perfect time to start thinking about what changes you want to be made in your garden and actioning them. If like many you don’t want to spend a huge amount on your garden but do want to make a change, then you are not alone. Below are four changes you can make when it comes to updating your garden on a budget.

Install Lighting

Lighting is a great way to make a change to your garden at an affordable rate. LED lights are solar-powered and can be used to create a pathway in your garden, show where steps are when it’s getting dark, or used to light up any accessories you may have, like a birdhouse, or your plants. As they have no wires, they can be moved around easily making them very flexible. If you enjoy having them in your back garden, you can always opt to put them in your driveway if it’s secure (You don’t want people picking them up and taking them).

Add Some Planting To Your Garden

Over the winter your garden will have taken some damage from the wind and the rain. Chances are your plants won’t be in their best conditions and some might have died, requiring you to plant some new ones. Try and choose some plants that are colourful and will add some brightness to your garden. You could also look at purchasing a thuja smaragd as this can last in cold weather and during the winter. It is also ideal for smaller gardens.

Touch Up Your Shed

As briefly mentioned above, during the winter months, your garden can get damaged and start to look a little tired. One thing that does tend to get the most wear and tear is your shed. When the weather gets nicer, why not go out and give it another lick of paint. This can make it look good as new and will instantly brighten up your garden. Shed paint doesn’t cost too much and can easily be done on a budget. If you are tired of the color your shed currently is, you can always opt to repaint it in a different color. Why not use Pinterest for some inspiration and see what colors other people are painting their fence?

Hanging Baskets

Hanging baskets are extremely affordable and are easy to install. The plants within the basket are often bright and full of colour, adding a touch of freshness and reducing the gloominess of your garden. If you aren’t keen on plants, you can always try and grow some vegetables in your hanging baskets and then use what you produce in your cooking. Most garden centres near you will stock hanging baskets as well as some supermarkets. If not you can order some online.

There are so many little changes you can make to your garden. Simply choose the ones that are easiest for you and go from there. What changes do you make to your garden on a budget? Have you tried any of the above? Let me know in the comment box below, I would love to hear from you.
