I have to say, that when it comes to choosing places for my kids to sleep, I’m somewhat a pro <raises hand proudly>. We’ve had cots, cot beds, novelty beds, single beds, bunk beds… almost every type of bed you could think of in our old flat and 2 house moves.
When online furniture retailer, Funique, got in contact asking me if I’d like to browse their fab site and choose my favourite snoozy spots for babies and children, I happily obliged. Funique sells truly unusual nursery pieces (as well as furniture for the rest of the home), and there were several that really caught my eye. All furniture is made in Europe, and they create their own designs to match modern interiors trends.
Here are my picks for cots and beds, from babies through to tweens:
I love, love, love this cot from Funique, and it really has a cool Scandi vibe to it if you’re looking for a white cot that’s a little bit different. I think the shape of the side bars give it that certain ‘something’, and it’s on sale at the moment at a fairly reasonable price (£209.95 down from £399.95).
Baby -to- toddler
This cot/changer/drawer combo not only looks great, but is ideal if you’re slightly short on space too (as many nursery rooms are). I love the under-cot storage too, and that it converts to a toddler bed when ready.
3 Years Upwards
This kids bed is SO cool (check out any popular scandi-inspired kids decor Instagram feed if you’re not convinced)- I would have loved one of these myself as a child, and I bet Freddie or Sasha would now. Maybe when we get the loft done and give them a room each we might be able to squeeze one of these in!
For both boys and girls
Perfect for when your child is slightly older, this stylish bed would suit almost any bedroom and bedroom theme, and ideal for both boys and girls in the family.
That little bit older… Bunk Beds!
Quite possibly the most beautiful bunk bed I’ve come across, the ‘Secret Garden’ Children’s bunk bed from Funique is is hand painted in light green using Italian ICA paints (which are approved for safe use for children and contact with food). The green is such a beautiful shade and makes a change from the usual pine or white bunk beds that you tend to see. Perfect for when your children are capable of negotiating the steps themselves.
What bed does your child have right now, and what do you think of my picks? I’d love to hear!
