Getting hitched this year? How to choose your wedding shoes

bride and groomNow that lockdown is easing, I am SO excited at the prospect of attending a few weddings this year that were postponed last year due to Covid. You can’t beat the happy atmosphere, seeing friends and family once more, as well as choosing the perfect wedding outfit. And it won’t just be me feeling all these things- no doubt the bride and groom will be too. I remember when Ad and I got married nearly 6 years ago now, the excitement of wedding dress shopping, as well as choosing the perfect bridal shoes. Whatever outfit you’re wearing, I’m a big believer in the fact that shoes really DO complete it, and if it’s your big day, then wedding shoes are no exception.

Here are my top tips for choosing the right wedding shoes for you, so you look your best on your big day…

Leave plenty of time to buy

If you’re planning on shopping online, it’s always a good idea to buy early as sizes can run out really fast, and therefore you’ll need to leave plenty of time for a shop to get more stock in. Especially right now as Covid has often caused manufacturing delays, so you’ll want to make sure you don’t leave buying until the last minute!

Consider your venue

Think about what kind of venue you’re having for your wedding. Are you having an outdoor wedding? Garden?  Church? Barn? Your location will influence the kind of shoe that you’ll want, and you’ll have consider both style AND practicality. Whilst you want to look great, you’ll want to be able to walk comfortably and enjoy your special day.

What kind of dress are you wearing?

You’ve probably put in loads of effort to find the perfect dress, which means that you don’t want your bridal shoes to be an afterthought. Make sure you find a wedding shoe that complements your dress and sense of style! What kind of wedding dress will you be wearing? Is it lacey? Modern? Floral? Look for similar elements in your bridal shoe to complement your dress. Paradox London have a huge selection of beautiful bridal shoes to go with your dream dress.

Wear them in!

Ideally you’ll be able to wear your wedding shoes around the house several times before the big day (making sure to keep them clean of course!). This will help ensure that they’re properly broken in, and that you minimise the risk of sore feet on your actual wedding day, which wouldn’t be much fun at all.

So these are my top tips for choosing wedding shoes for your big day- do you have any yourself? I would love to hear them in the comments below!
