Feeling more confident about my hair

hair wigAs someone who generally speaking is fairly low maintenance when it comes to head grooming, I’ve got to the point in my life when I think that it needs that little bit of extra TLC so I’m feeling more confident about my hair. Sure, I get highlights and have a trim every couple of months, but lockdown (and lack of grooming and attention from my hairdresser) has made me realise more than ever that how my hair looks really can make a huge difference to how I perceive myself and how confident I feel.

Whilst my hair colour i.e worshiping at the altar of the bleach gods is a big factor in this, there are certainly other things that I could be doing more of potentially in order to make my barnet look the best it can be. After having my first two children, I was really fortunate in that I didn’t lose hair post-partum like many women can do, but after having Arlo nearly 3 years ago I lost quite a lot of hair. Coming out in what seemed like huge amounts in the shower, the thinning of my hair was quite alarming, although apparently very normal, but it has left what was once a very thick head of hair, lacking in that ‘something’, and 3 years on it still feels a bit thin, and dare I say it… straggly.

I’ve always been curious about trying hair extensions to thicken and lengthen my hair (especially when I’ve gone through a phase of cutting my hair off on a whim and then instantly dislike it), but always wondered if having them was a bit of a faff or not. What I didn’t realise is that there are many different kinds of hair extension that you can choose, and the premium hair extensions you can find at Lilyhair give you so much choice when it comes to find the right extensions for you. On a day-to-day basis I like the idea of the clip-in extensions that you can easily put in and out according to the hair style you want that day, but having said that, the more permanent ones fixed in mean that you can forget about the fact they’re there and enjoy your hair on a daily basis before having to change them.

If you’ve perhaps got hair that’s thinned more than mine, you might be interested in hairpieces for women that transform your look by adding volume and body to fine, thin hair. The toppers come in 20+ beautiful colours, ranging from Jet Black to Platinum Blonde, and from Ombre to Balayage. The ones from Lilyhair are human hair  and are made with a multi-tonal adapt coloring system, which means that there are subtle highlights and lowlights, lighter strands and darker strands throughout each set.

Another treat for my hair would be using some Leave-in conditioner more often (I’ve been really slack with this!) Not only does it moisturise dry or unruly hair for a smooth, silky appearance, but it also detangles and strengthens hair which makes styling easier. As I live in the outskirts of London, using leave-in conditioner should protect my hair from pollution, environmental damage, the sun, and heat.

These pampering hair treats should help with making me feel more confident when it comes to my hair, and hopefully I’ll end up coming out of lockdown with hair that makes me look a million times better, and feel more confident!
