Snippets of Easter

Hello all! Hope you had a lovely Easter weekend, although how CRAZY was the weather?! At least down here in the South East it was! Although Good Friday was beautiful, so we did manage to get out and about to a local farm for obligatory Easter lamb/chick/bunny viewing, so I feel that along with eating our body weight in hot cross buns, we ticked several seasonal ‘to do’s’ off of our list.

The past weekend has been fairly low key, but lovely all the same. I have (yet again) not being feeling 100% and ‘viral’ (as I keep telling Adam!), so whilst we’ve pottered about and I saw friends on Saturday night for a bite to eat, I haven’t actually felt like doing much else. We forgot the clocks went forward on Saturday night, and praised the Lord that we decided to prepare Freddie and Sasha’s Easter egg hunt in advance before we went to bed- our two were up for the day with gusto at 4.45am on the Sunday, and we managed to doze for an hour in bed whilst they raced around the house looking for them. What I will say is that hiding eggs at 12.30am when you’ve had a few cocktails may mean you don’t remember exactly where you put them the following day- us/the children were continuing to find eggs throughout Sunday!

As a result of not feeling amazing, I didn’t take as many pictures as usual, but sometimes that’s not a bad thing, keeping in the moment at all. Here’s a few I did take though, if you’d like to see…

Easter Decorations

^^^My favourite hanging Easter decorations. I bought these for under a fiver each from the Ideal Home Show last year, and I think they look so ‘retro’. I’m making a promise now that next year I’m going to buy a proper ‘Easter Tree’ so they can be hung on there and made the most of- they deserve to be shown off!

Easter Selfie

^^^Getting into the swing of things! We have several pairs of bunny ears floating around at home, although weirdly the children aren’t that fussed about wearing them, and eyed me suspiciously initially when I came down the stairs. Weirdos.

Happy Easter

^^^My Easter Lightbox effort. I’m always thankful when there’s a new holiday/season/celebration, as I always struggle to think of something funny/non-twee to spell on it! #lightboxstylingwoes Can I also ask for some help please? I appear to be killing houseplants at a rate of knots 🙁 I’m not sure where I’m going wrong? I water them all, but not too much, yet they keep dying. If anyone has any advice, it would be very much appreciated!

Easter Crackers

^^^Little Easter crackers (thank you, Sainsburys), a nice touch to our Easter dining. Adam and I (he will KILL me for writing this!) also spent rather too much time over the weekend doing this 1000 piece puzzle. My mum lent me a couple a while ago, as I was looking for new ways to unwind in the evenings, and we finally got round to giving one of them a go. It was SO addictive (and terminally uncool) and I can see me getting my hands on several more tricky puzzles to do soon!

Easter Hat

^^^Sasha’s Easter bonnet attempt for her preschool Easter afternoon last week (also sponsored by good old Sainsbury’s and some super glue). I made one ‘from scratch’ a couple of years ago for when Freddie was there, but this year we were given slightly less warning! I usually love making them a bit more detailed, but this was fine in the end especially when said child didn’t want to wear the bloody thing anyway.

Easter Cards

^^^The card that S made us for Easter. I’m sure I’ve said before that I’m not an overly sentimental sort, but to prove I’m not dead inside I do find that getting these little homemade things make me a bit weepy, and we keep each and every one in their special boxes. It might sound weird, but this sort of thing really makes me a feel like a ‘Mum’, and I love receiving them.

Sasha's Easter Treats Bag

Freddie's Easter Treats

^^^Little bags for Easter treats (that need a damn good iron!). I love these bags I bought a couple of years ago from Not on the High Street, and the children do too.

Mashed Potato

Roasted Lamb

^^^Adam cooked the most AMAZING lunch on Sunday- this slow roasted leg of lamb with a redcurrant gravy, served with spring greens and minted mash (above). Can hands down say it was one of the best lunches I’ve had in a long time. Definitely one of the reasons I married him is for his chef skills!

I hope you all had a fab break- what did you get up to?

Love that photo of you in the bunny ears – you are rocking them totally! Sounds like a lovely weekend, it has felt really long for me in a good way, but I am still too much in holiday mode to get around to writing, haha! Houseplants, well some like to be watered from the bottom up so they don’t get too wet? Succulents and orchids for example, just water them once a week by taking them out of their pot, if you can, standing them in some water for an hour or so and then putting them back in the pot. Can’t actually believe I am giving out houseplant tips! I am not great with them either to be honest! Happy Easter!! xx

Roast lamb is my favourite meal in the world – and that looks incredible! Love your bunny ears and I have no advice about the plants – I have fake ones so that I won’t kill them! x

It sounds like a fab easter, although sorry you have been poorly. I have been saying I am going to get an easter tree for the last five years and i still haven’t achieved it. I will though, perhaps next year! 😉 xx
