Our Christmas Home 2016

Our new home this year has so far been a bit ‘trial and error’ on the festive front. What with having only lived here for just under 7 weeks, and with the living room being the only room downstairs that’s been decorated so far, certain parts of the house are ‘done’ and others are most definitely not!

Our kitchen/diner is in a bit of a mess at the moment, what with mismatched furniture and still a few boxes kicking around, but after we’ve carried out our renovation work in early spring (fingers crossed!) I’m hoping that this time next year this part of the house will look festively stylish too. In here we have some hanging honeycomb lanterns, and what is now the children’s Christmas tree that we let them loose on- my OCD tendancies go into overdrive watching them decorate it, but leave them to it I do!

Our living room is where it’s at though, and due to the big, square bay window in this room we finally have a spot for our big, artificial Christmas tree, which swamped the living room in our old house.

Here are a few Christmassy snaps so far….

The Anthropologie deer has had a makeover//silver apples and pears from a garden centre a few years ago, I think Gisella Graham//Copper star c/o TK Maxx Home this year//Copper bauble from Next last year//Postbox tree decoration from Gisela Graham//Caravan tree decoration from Paperchase// Big Ben tree decoration from Gisela Graham//My favourite Christmas candle- Yankee Candle ‘Christmas Memories’ – smells heavenly, just like gingerbread!//A little reindeer friend from Sainsburys//Christmas presents wrapped for my husband, paper c/o TK Maxx Christmas section this year// light up ‘JOY’ sign, only a tenner from Dunelm!

As you can see we don’t go for a specific theme in our house, just a little bit of everything we love!

Do you have a decorating theme or is it a bit of a free-for-all?!

We are copper star twins! Alas mine is sitting in a box. We are hoping to move back to our house on 22/12 as we have had a little bit of renovation going on. So I will be trying to inject a small bit of Christmas spirit in 48 hours!!!
Your house looks fab so far and I love reading your posts showing your progress. Keep it up!

Well done, it looks ace and you seem to have got everything organised V quickly superwoman! I thought of you the other day as saw that Kirsty’s Christmas show is back on – loved seeing you on that last year!

I’m intrigued, does the Christmas Memories Candle really smell like gingerbread men? I always find it weird when candles smell of food..sort of like you want to try to bite it to check but know you shouldn’t! Or is that just me? xxx

I love that copper star! I’m slowly trying to build up my Christmas decorations – they are looking a bit sparse this year since we’ve moved and basically doubled our living space!

I love the joy sign and the copper star. My xmas decorations are similar. I just pick a couple of bits up every year, just things I like. I think it’s homier when they’re not all matchy-matchy. x
