Now the children are back at school (for how long, who knows?!), one of the things that I would like to do house-wise, and something that I’ve been saying I want to do for aaages, is to upholster an old footstool of ours. Whilst the fabric might not be what I want at all anymore, the actual footstool is of a great size and shape, and therefore we’ve been reluctant to get rid of it just yet. I’m hoping that with the help of my Mum (thanking you in advance if you’re reading this, hahah!), that I can find some brilliant, bright fabric, and then have a go at covering it myself.

Easy Chair Makeover
An example of easy chair makeover is this one by blog Design Sponge (pictured above). This project talks beginners through the basics of making over a classic dining chair where you can remove the seat and change out the fabric and/or padding. A first project like this shouldn’t take too long, and you can really transform a tired all dining chair set in the process!
Square Cushion for Children/Pets
This kind of project is a lovely one if you’ve got a dog, or small children who would appreciate a cushion to relax on in a reading nook. A simple shape, this project is great for trying out some beautiful new fabric on, or even older scraps. This video by nautical DIYers Sailrite shows you how to make your own box cushion in 30 minutes (I have a feeling I would still take a little longer though!)
Footstool
The tutorial that I’ll be paying most attention to! This upcycle project by Prodigal Pieces shows you how to reupholster a footstool in their step-by-step guide, plus letting you know exactly what equipment you will need.
