A Monday catch up brain dump

056

Afternoon, afternoon! After a full week of illness where I’ve been boring people to death on social media with updates of my flu situation (exciting huh?), I’m back at work (writing this in my break), but still feeling a little foggy and bleeurgh. I honestly haven’t been this poorly, for this long, for years, and basically lost a whole week of doing anything, which as very much a ‘doer’, always feels a little odd. Still, there is always stuff, however mundane, going on, and I have to admit that it’s been quite nice to just rest and potter about, something you never feel that you can really ever do (unless REALLY ill) when you have children.

So what’s new?

The children actually had a great half term, even though I was gutted that I hardly got to spend any time with them. Thankful, and thankful and thankful again for amazing grandparents who took the reins for 4 days last week so I could zonk in bed and Adam could continue working. They love spending time with each other, so there’s no hardship on either side, although I suspect the ‘older’ pair are looking forward to a rest this week! They, along with my Mum, do so much for us, we are really very lucky. I’ll be making the most of the next few weekends with them, I’ve really missed their company.

I am playing catch up work-wise now, both with my blog and my other job, it’s amazing what a back-log you get after only 4 real days of not working. I’m not very good at not doing anything, although I think sometimes it’s necessary, and my body was clearly telling me to ‘slow down’.

I’ve ‘enjoyed’ (if that’s the right word!) getting stuck into ‘Making a Murderer’, and it’s been making Adam and I seriously ragey! How can so many monumentally bad/corrupt things happen that the police can get away with?! Insane. If you haven’t heard of it/watched it yet, then I highly recommend that you do! There were 12 of us on my Instagram last night discussing it, all full of equal rage, except my friend Kat, who is convinced Steven is guilty. I’m not sure we can be friends anymore…!

After a week of mainlining Lemsip, I’ve discovered that I can survive without coffee for a few days after all, but not sure I want to- Nespresso, I’ve missed ya.

And what is it about going bonkers getting the home back in order after illness? Or is it just me? Adam did a great job keeping on top of things whilst I was bed-ridden, but yesterday I just had the urge to sort the kitchen out, and also Freddie’s bedroom and have a serious declutter. Progress was made, and I’ve been quite ruthless getting rid of/storing away stuff we don’t want or need any more.

The fish are still a huge hit, and I’ll often catch Freddie just standing there and talking to them- it’s very sweet. I’m so pleased we got him a pet (well, two). Funny how two simple Zebra Danios can make one little boy very happy. Sasha has also declared herself a fan, so I have a feeling some may be requested by her for her 4th birthday in May (and I secretly want some for my office!).

I’ve got several (hopefully) lovely posts going out over the next week or so- our loft room bathroom tour, although I might re-take the photos now I have my new digital baby, the Olympus Pen *swoon!*, another retro bathroom-related one (I’m not sure why they’re on my mind, but hey!) and a few more.

I took some basic shots of the kids with the Pen on Saturday, just messing around and blowing bubbles. I’m seriously impressed with the quality of the snaps, and that’s without me really ‘doing’ anything, such great depth of field- I’ll try and share these too. A lovely IG follower of mine pointed me in the direction of the Stylon Nylon blog, where Julia does some ace tutorials for the Olympus Pen, so I’m going to check these out when I have a minute.

And in some surreal, parallel life, On Friday I’m off to London Fashion Weekend to be a blogger rep for Joules. They emailed me last week to see if I’d like to be dressed by them and attend the day at The Saatchi Gallery, and of course I said YES! I’m a little nervous as model-I-am-not, but I’m looking forward to putting my outfit together, having a fun day out, and being inspired by the shows and talks. I will report back!

I light of my big kitchen/room clear out yesterday, I’ve been on the hunt for some prints for our home, and have bookmarked these ones to purchase next week post-payday:

Meowie Bowie Painting

Gold Pineapple Print

Cuba travel poster

And lastly, the photo at the top of this post is our loft room, in the sun, which made me smile a pretty big smile, because you know, SUN, and it means spring is just around the corner 🙂

Have a great Monday, and a great rest of your week 🙂

Wow Becky, you have so much going on I’m not suprised you had a little ‘down time’ thrown in for good measure! But glad you’re back on your feet again and raring to go, the Joules fashion experience sounds amazing, couldn’t have happened to a nicer (and suitably lovely long legged) lady ????
