4 Creative Ways to Refresh your Bathroom

Refreshing a tired bathroom does not require a complete renovation. A few simple updates can transformation an unsightly washroom into your own, personal sanctuary! I’ve put together four creative tips to help you breathe a new lease of life into your home bathroom:

Switch up your tiles

Using a feature border to break up tiles can add an interesting design element. Border & mosaic tiles are bang on trend this year, and the variety of designs available can really set the tone for your bathroom. For example, opting for a mirror finish border will add a touch of glamour, whilst a contrasting feature tile adds a bold colour pop! If new tiles aren’t in your budget, you can use an eco-friendly etcher, safe for home use, to remove any excess grime from tile surfaces and grout lines to give your bathroom back its sparkle.

A new colour scheme

A new colour palette can give your bathroom a whole new look! A lick of paint is the best way to refresh and brighten up any room in your house and if can give your bathroom a totally different aesthetic, if you have a classic white suit. Neutral colours are a versatile and clean looking option and when paired with coordinating accessories, the simplicity can have a striking effect on the room. Monochrome is another key bathroom trend, contrasting white fixtures with dark walls and floor can look effective if you dare to be bold!

Upcycling

Upcycling is a great way to spruce up a bathroom on a budget and can give you a unique, quirky finish, that perfectly represents your style. Remodelling an old mirror, by mounting it on a wood frame or, creating a mosaic style border with broken mirror shards, can give a rustic, cosy atmosphere. Painting wooden cabinets in heritage colours is another great way to give a rustic, yet fresh feel to your bathroom. If you are going for a contemporary look, opt for metallic fixtures and try lining countertops with marble contact paper for an uber chic finish.

A bit of a fixer-upper

Something as simple as updating your old fixtures, such as basin taps, lighting & towel racks can leave your bathroom looking as good as new. Rose gold coloured taps are a stylish alternative to the classic chrome finish and can give your bathroom that modern ‘Pinterest-worthy’ aesthetic. Modernising light fixtures is another easy way to keep your bathroom looking on trend, choose crystal embellished pendant lights to make a statement, or, install simple spotlights for a bright finish. If you’re DIY friendly, then making your own towel rack is a great personal challenge that can add a unique finish. For example, layering old pipes to form towel storage can give your bathroom an industrial vibe.
